There’s a whole orchestra going off behind his forehead, the piece they’re performing heavy on percussion and brass, and it is agony.
He forces his eyes open, squinting in the glare of the flickering overhead light. He’s flat on his back, and for a moment he can’t feel anything beyond the cold floor. Tries to move his legs, his arms, his fingers—and gets nothing.
Panic engulfs him instantly, the doctor’s voice in his ear: “We weren’t able to remove the whole bullet safely at this point. There’s a chance the fragment we left in will eventually shift close to your spine, in which case we will have to operate to prevent paralysis. But for now it’s safer if it stays put.”

Tim is a hard man to love, he knows that, his father had told him often. He is married to his highschool sweetheart, Isabel, he loves her though that's getting harder too with the constant bickering and often absences.
Then he meets Lucy Chen, literally knocks her off her feet, (her bicycle actually) an accident while arguing with Isabel in the car.
It seems like fate (which Tim does not believe in) wants them together, even their matching birthmarks seem to agree. Tim loves Isabel, at least that's what he keeps telling himself, will he finally see the cracks in that relationship or will he let his soulmate slip through his fingers?
