“So much.” Once again, the words left Langa's mouth before he'd considered speaking, and Cherry smiled softly, probably glad that he didn't have to have a conversation through Carla as she struggled to turn his frantic mixture of English and Japanese into something coherent.
“Well,” Cherry folded his arms and neatly placed them on the edge of the table, casual, “start wherever you'd like.”

Langa’s father left his pregnant mother abandoned in Okinawa 18 years ago. His relationship with his mother is strained, as she has always treated him more like a friend or husband than child. He also struggles with low self esteem and intrusive thoughts, affected by the trauma of his upbringing. Sick of it all, he decides he’ll kill himself on his 18th birthday, and writes a letter for his mother. When she finds it early, he’s hospitalized. This is where he meets Reki, who has ADHD & bipolar disorder; Miya, who has anorexia; Kojiro, a Mental Health Tech; Kaoru, the therapist; and Hiromi, the sassy night nurse. Hospitalized for three nights, Langa tries to figure out his problems while his relationships blossom and he experiences friendship and love for the first time.

Langa Hasegawa was notorious for his blank expressions. He had what Reki called a RBF: a resting bored face. The only thing that really got Langa excited was skating, it was only then that Reki caught a glimpse of a wide smile with bright eyes. Any other time he spared a glance at the aloof Canadian, his expressions were soft and subdued. If he was smiling, it was small. If he was confused, his head tilted only slightly. If he was annoyed, his brows drew together without wrinkling his forehead too much.
After a few months of their friendship, a fight, and a make-up, Reki considered himself a Certified Langa Expert (in his own humble opinion). So, one could imagine his surprise when his friend cried for the first time and he had no fucking clue what to do.
