The Inevitable has faced many a fearsome foe. Vanquished countless beasts.
But one that thinks like them, acts like them, and is capable of communicating with them? Never have they killed such a beast before.
These is new territory for them. Not as elusive as the Red Bluster, but enough to make a name for themselves. One feared throughout the seas.

Summary
Talia Moors, a maid from the children's home in Guelston, discovers that one of the children, Maisie, has gone missing. She immediately goes out to search for the girl, only to find that Maisie has stowed away on the Inevitable, a hunter ship that has just departed. Desperate to retrieve Maisie, Talia follows the ship but ultimately gets stranded on it as well.
Maisie has formed a bond with Jacob, the captain's adopted son, and Talia finds herself reluctantly teaming up with him to care for the girl. Despite her inexperience at sea and her disdain for the hunters, Talia must quickly adapt to survive the upcoming hunt. However, the hunt goes awry, and a sudden turn of events sends Talia, Maisie, and Jacob overboard. Injured and adrift, Talia must now put aside her personal feelings and work with Jacob to guide Maisie safely back to land.
