Galadriel will never remember who actually moved first. It’s better to believe that it wasn’t her foot twitching and launching her into the arms of her hated enemy, pulse thundering in her ears and her own voice screaming inside her head now now now.

Summary
Four times in the Great Stories the Great Eagles come to save the day: To carry Fingon and Maedhros after a heroic rescue, to bear the (only mostly) dead body of Fingolfin away from Angband, to help a company of Dwarves in need and, of course, to save Frodo and Sam after the destruction of the One Ring.
What if by chance during all four of these rescues the Eagles hit an odd note in the music of Arda and they each end up at one of the others' intended destinations: The camp at Lake Mithrim gets Frodo and Sam. Aragorn and the Gondorian army get Fingon and Maedhros. Turgon gets some unexpected Dwarven visitors ...and Fingolfin is brought to the Eagles' eyrie?

Summary
There is little reason for a ghost to be cold, either, or scared, or tired, and while the boy seems not frightened he is close. Perhaps he too knows not to be out at night, that bad things happen then. He is not real, so there is little for him to fear, but perhaps he still remembers to from before, from when the singer could have saved him or not. A bird, he thinks, a bird and a jewel and two twins huddled together, afraid, a father's precise anger reflected upon a brother's face; not even the right brother, whispering atrocities as reassurances after being denied. Perhaps he too remembers to be afraid.
