Falling somewhere in the vicinity of the old mystery novels I love, this story takes cues from the likes of "Murder, She Wrote", the "Mrs. Murphy Mysteries" and "The Cat Who" series. Smalls towns with increasing sophistication and advanced elements as technology and the series advanced, to keep things relevant.

Last name key (so far) for the surname-less characters in Sing and Zootopia: Johnny Silverback (his father's first name is Peter in the universe of these fics); Barry Gorillini; Stan Monkeigh; Norman and Rosita Hogsen; Gazelle Thompson (with how on the nose the canon surnames for the Zootopia characters are, it would not surprise me if this was actually canon); Nikolai Clawiinsky, Vaska Snarlyev, Aleksandr Striperov, and Sasha Fangeyev for the four tiger dancers.
