When the planned volunteer steps out of volunteering at the last minute, Finnick volunteers in his place. There’s just one problem. No one the age of fourteen has ever won the games. If he wins, he will be the youngest victor ever. Follow him on his journey from a brainwashed “career” who thinks volunteering is the only way to matter in panem, to his changed perspective of the real horrors of the games you only know once you have experienced them. He learnt it too late.

This is that story.
After winning the 73rd Hunger Games Katniss and Peeta are reasonably traumatized, but the next year after their victory tour they're both forced into a deal by President Snow unless they want their families to die. Returning back to District 12 traumatized and scared they think things couldn't get any worse, right? But fate proves them wrong again with the 74th reaping, where Primrose Everdeen's name is picked but this time Katniss can't volunteer for her, Katniss is forced to mentor her own sister unable to guarantee her survival.

When President Snow announces that the 25th Hunger Games will forever be marked by it's milestone as a Quarter Quell, and endure the special change of voting candidates into the games instead of randomised reaping, the districts scramble to vote in their tributes and eagerly await reaping day.
Huck Ploughman thinks the games will be an easy miss, but when the whole world turns on him, he finds it difficult to simply give up- despite his deepest desires.
