"Who the hell are you?" Jon could feel his hands shaking.
The man laughed, taking a step forward and raising a hand to point at him.
"I'm you, from the future!" he said, then swayed, eyes going unfocused, and collapsed to the floor in a dead faint.

Summary
Three of possibly the drunkest university students Martin has ever seen stumble in, laughing uproariously. He doesn’t say that lightly; working in a coffee shop near a university means he has seen his fair share of drunken students. But this. This is something he’s never seen before.
It is five thirty am on a Wednesday.

When Jon sleeps, he hurts people. So the solution is simple, right? He just has to stay awake.
Set in the vicinity of s4, so be warned for spoilers if you're not caught up.

5+1 kinda formula - going through the seasons with every office party this shitty institute throws. slow burn..... 5 parties they didn't and one they did you all know the drill. pining with a happy ending.

“It’s a preexisting condition,” Jon explains, sipping more bitter tea. “I sort of got—hm. You know Spiderman?”
Tim raises an eyebrow.
“Heard of him, yeah.”
Jon nods, studying his tea.
“It’s sort of like that,” he says. “A spider killed and ate me when I was a child, and now I can’t stay dead.”

And for a second he can hear the door sing and it’s so jarring and nonsensical and, seemingly out of nothing, from it spills a man. Weak and shaky and holding onto the neon frame like he’s holding onto his damn dear life.
“Can anyone tell me what year it is?” The man asks and then immediately collapses. The door closes behind him and then it’s just. Gone. Like it had never been there in the first place. Maybe it hadn’t.
Tim shakes his head as if shaking off the door’s existence and then immediately exclaims in horror “is that Jon!?”
Jon scoffs. “Well, Tim, seeing how I’m literally right here—”

It’s a late night Tesco run, how eventful could it be? It’s not like Martin is going to run into his boss who’s wearing something absurdly different from usual and get the most acute form of whiplash possible from seeing him, right?

Summary
Whatever he had predicted might happen, Jon wasn't expecting to survive upon demolishing the Panopticon. He certainly wasn't expecting to be rescued.
Instead, he wakes up in an alternative universe where he's never been the Archivist, and Martin Blackwood doesn't exist.
Martin Blackwood wakes up somewhere else entirely.

Jon needs a date for a wedding. Martin needs better decision making skills. Tim and Sasha are both delighted by these events.
“I object,” Tim said with a cunning smile as he met Martin’s eyes. “Personally, I think agreeing to be the fake boyfriend of your boss who also happens to be your crush is the best decision you could have ever made.”

They’re standing entirely too close to each other in front of the hotel desk when the clerk asks them whether they’d like a double, twin, or two singles, and Martin absolutely bottles it.
‘Uh,’ he says, at exactly the same time as Jon says, ‘Oh.’

There’s a conversation that Martin and Jon need to have after the Lonely. Unfortunately, they are - historically - fairly terrible at putting stuff into words.

“Are you really gonna stay here and pester Jon all evening?”
“I’m not pestering him,” Martin retorted, sounding vehement if not busy going through the cupboards. “I’m heating up soup.”
“Oh, you might as well make him another cup of tea while you’re at it.”
“Oh, good idea.”
Jon shot Tim a withering look.

“You know where he is though, right?” Martin asks suddenly, after a long while of silent walking.
“Oliver?” Jon asks and Martin’s expression darkens, as if even the name coming from Jon’s lips is unacceptable.
“Yes, Oliver,” Martin says the name like it’s poison. “You could find him, right?”
“I could,” Jon allows, unsure where this is going. “Martin, what-”
“I want to meet him,” Martin interrupts. “Take me to him!” -

“Look, this thing with Peter… I need to see it through. And that means I need to be…”
“Lonely,” Jon finished for him.
“Yeah.” Martin raised the damp towel to Jon’s forehead. Gentler this time, he began to wipe away the blood and grime. “But if you think no one will care if you get hurt, then you’re wrong.”
Jon lifted his hand as though to hold Martin’s hand in place, then thought better of it and lowered it into his lap. “Right.”
“And if you go back into that coffin, I’m climbing in after you and pulling you back out.”
Jon glanced up, the ghost of a smile playing on his lips. He looked small, and frail, and so, so tired. Martin could feel his carefully-curated numbness slip away as his heart clenched at the sight.
“When was the last time you ate?” he asked. Old habits die hard.
“I-I don’t know. It didn’t matter so much, in the Buried.”
“Well, you’re not in the Buried anymore. C’mon.”
When Jon gets out of the Buried, he and Martin have a talk.

Summary
Jon sends the fears far from Earth and flees London, leaving the others to assume the worst. He settles in a small village and opts to live there quietly until he dies, a self-imposed penance. This plan is foiled when the first former Avatar shows up - and Jon realizes that every domain-keeper in the apocalypse still has some faint connection to him.
After a year of being a shoulder to cry on for confused and distraught former Avatars, Jon leads a moderately happy life. He has a flourishing garden, a cat, and some company. All of that comes crashing around his ears (or his head) when a familiar face shows up to his cabin, demanding answers.

Martin hadn't heard from Jon in a week. That wasn't such a strange thing; Even though Jon was no longer on the run and had technically been back at work for over a month, he had barely been in contact with any of the Archives staff. Going one week without hearing from Jon wouldn't be anything at all to worry about, if it weren't for one thing:
They had a date.

“If there are any mind readers out there, I’m sorry you just heard that and I hope you have a lovely day.”
It was Martin's own little inside joke, when he was in a public place. He'd think very hard and then look up and around, trying to see if he’d surprised any stealthy telepaths. No one would look any the wiser, and Martin could go about his day assured in the knowledge that his thoughts were safe inside his head.
Except.
Today, when Martin called out to the mind readers of Greater London, or at least of the cramped, artistic cafe he was in, a man sitting several tables away jerked his head up and glanced around.
