Summary
SkekTek's experiments on the Crystal of Truth go awry. Rather than learning about essence, the skeksis find themselves having to deal with an entirely new problem, completely separate from aging and eventually dying. Inconveniently, the problem requires all else be put on hold until it gets solved.
Issue 1: This will require a certain degree of teamwork, which isn't something skeksis are known for.
Issue 2: There are other forces at work, which are neither benevolent nor nonviolent. Dying of old age may soon be the least of their worries. -

SkekVar is a soldier, he understands that his courtship of the Emperor is a siege not a battle. Nothing will be decided decisively, it is not a battle of force or numbers, it is a slow, painful wearing down of the enemies resistance.
The Emperor does not harbour any particular affections for his General, not at all. Nope. No favouritism, no preferential treatment. He doesn't care for SkekVar at all. -

I'll come up with a better name, but here is my SoVar Human AU fic as of so far. It's just drabbles basically. Apologies. It's got a lot of offensive content, Skeksis are shitty people. Not particularly edited and not in chronological order.
So is the head of a Japanese drug syndicate that trades a lab-made drug world-wide. Making money is just a side deal to the ruthless kingpin whose primary aim is to use his export to cripple America and China, Japan's enemies and the only thing he perceives as holding them back from ruling the world. He is aided by a merry band of crims, and primarily by his fuck-pig and bodyguard Var, who, despite being American, worships and serves him. This fic is set in roughly 1990's America.

Rian has spent his whole life, trying to be like his father. However, when he loses the girl he loves, he learns the dark truth of his so-called “masters”
However the hopes of all Thra rest not on his shoulders but on the shoulders of another…not of ThraQuasimodo spent his whole life hidden away. He feels like a worthless coward for failing to save his friend Esmeralda.
However he soon finds himself in another world; a world with strange creatures known as Gelfling, ruled over by a dark force. He learns of a prophecy that says only together a human and Gelfling will save the dying planet. He soon learns much more than he could ever possibly dream. Can he and Rian and the rest of their friends bring balance to Thra once more or will he in turn be swallowed by the darkness.

The Skeksis have branded him a murderer and popular opinion agrees, but the All-Maudra insists on a fair trial. Though he is now the most hated gelfling in Thra, he is not completely alone. His best friend strives to prove his innocence, a princess is determined to find the truth, and a stranger from Grot believes in him. Together, they may be able to save, not only Rian's life, but the lives of all gefling.
