Summary
"He ain't breathin', Darry!" Soda yelled. "Pony's not breathing!" The yell quickly turned into a painful, desperate cry.
Darry had to force himself to move. All he wanted to do was sit down and cry. But no, he couldn't do that. He was the adult here. His baby brother was on the floor. And Darry had to save him, or he was going to die.
Ponyboy's skin was gray, lips blue, body frighteningly limp.
Darry kneeled down on the floor next to Pony, immediately starting CPR.
Soda sat on his knees, weeping at the sight before him.
His baby brother wasn't breathing, he was drowning...or maybe he already had.
His big brother was doing CPR on him.
Soda was certain that this was the most painful thing he would ever see.
Or:
Life without Johnny and Dally is becoming too much for Ponyboy, more-so than he himself even knows. When he starts sleepwalking and nearly dies, his brothers become sick with worry. Will they be able to help Pony out of the cages of his mind before it's too late? Or will the fire end up consuming him too?
