“Up. Stand up.” The voice was steady. Sam holstered his gun slowly and raised his hands. “Shit, I said up, before I kill you right here.”
Sam got a foot under himself and stood. The barrel of the gun stayed pressed into his neck, warming against his skin.
"Face me.”
Sam turned, heels close to the edge of the cliff. His eyes tracked past the pistol looming close, to the man holding it. He looked about how Sam would expect. A dark bandana covered his face, and long greasy hair hung loose under his hat, almost to his shoulders. His shirt and pants may have been black once, but now they were the color of sweat, and grime, and dust from the road. There was a large knife strapped to his right thigh. He looked like the kind of man who could get a jump on Sam, who would make good on his promise to shoot, who knew how to survive. He spoke in a low growl.
“I know you’re tracking Pierce. Just stop and we won’t have a problem. He’s mine.”

Sam's a bounty hunter on the trail of a dangerous gang leader when he meets Bucky, who is after the same man - for far more personal reasons.

Sam watches him as he unsheathes a knife from his – where was it hidden? – and presses down, still holding a hand to his chest. It’s fast; Bucky presses the point to the suit and the armored fabric springs under its point, his chest open to the lights of the emergency room. It’s fast, but he stops breathing enough that he gasps when Bucky’s done with the long, long line down his torso, opening up the top of the suit down to his navel.
Sam reminds himself to breathe, but all he can do is watch this man focus so intently on dragging the tip of a knife just above his skin, his fingertips following as he tugs it off.
Then Bucky's looking around the room to announce, “Suit’s off.” He looks down at Sam. “I’ll be here.”

Natasha put her phone down on the desk and pushed it to the opposite edge for them to see. A video was playing, watermarked with the webzine logo for Superhero Sleuth, an internet trash site that normally peddled ridiculous rumors and crazy conspiracy theories. But this video was simple, unfiltered fact: grainy, poorly lit fact, but still, unmistakably Bucky and Sam, showing that one moment Bucky had been trying to bury in the back of his brain for the last three days. Bucky felt his stomach drop to his shoes as he watched it. God, he really did maul the guy, no wonder Sam looked so shaken by it.
“Wow, that’s very… passionate,” Sayuri offered.
Bucky closed his eyes and wondered how, after decades of brainwashing, cryogenics, and torture, that this was the closest he ever felt to being in hell.
OR, the one where the world's newest version of the Avengers is great at everything, except talking to each other about their feelings. Too bad a cellphone video is going to make them do it.

And maybe all of that would be weird enough – having “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” incoherently mixing as well as oil and water with “Sexual Healing” and the candles that shouldn’t be possible and the bed that was much bigger and nicer and softer than Sam had ever known – but it really wasn’t the strangest fucking thing in the goddamn room.
No, that honor was awarded to someone who looked a lot like Sam making out with a cyborg.
