However, her scowls and biting remarks had never been enough to scare off Angelica, who continued to talk her head off about anything she could. How delicious the soup was for dinner, how her blisters from work this morning were beginning to turn yellow, and if Johanna were a leaf, what kind of leaf would she be. Obviously, Johanna wouldn’t be a leaf at all, she would be a pine needle, Angelica decided. Eventually, Johanna realized that she preferred to hear insufferable talking over insufferable silence during long shifts in the forest.
It also didn’t hurt that Angelica had the most beautiful brown eyes.
