    During Gi-hun's first watch after the second game, something happens between Gi-hun and Young-il (Hwang In-ho) that leaves Gi-hun conflicted when he finds himself wanting more. After the failed rebellion, Gi-hun is forced to stay in In-ho's quarters to watch the remainder of the games. When their relationship becomes more complicated, both men fight against themselves and their trauma as they begin to sink into the deep pit of their growing obsession.

    Neither were expecting to become wrapped up in each other as much as they did, and neither of them were expecting to do anything it takes to stay together.

    Post canon season 2. Begins after the six-legged pentathlon and runs canonically through season 2 (fic was written prior to the release of season 3).

    Seong Gi-hun has given up hope.

    With his best friend dead, Young-il killed, and the blood of several others on his hands, he knows that he and his mission are over. His next move is to try to keep as many of his newfound companions safe, no matter what happens to him.

    If he has to sacrifice himself for the people around him, so be it.

    Hwang In-ho watches as Gi-hun is forced back into the room with the other players.

    He sees that the fight has left him.

    In-ho knows, if he doesn’t step in, Gi-hun will be dead by the next game. This should be good news- he has incited a rebellion after all, him gone would be one less problem on In-ho’s plate.

    So why does he feel heavy to think of Gi-hun dying?

    There’s only one way for In-ho to keep tabs on Gi-hun and keep him alive for a later date: to re-enter the game.
