Summary
It had been a few days since she's been in the water, and GOSH did she miss it. Shelby had spent a day packing her stuff from the Academy, another riding the train to the Evermoore, and another unpacking all her stuff.
It didn't leave much time to relax and melt into the water. She felt untouchable, the water flowing around her form, slick and swift, cool and calm.
But she usually had to steal moments at the Academy to transform too. Bombarded with homework that would take any other student a quarter of the time it took her to do it, and of course the fact that no one was supposed to know she was a selkie at all.
Or
Shelby is a selkie, which makes things complicated as she gets a crush on Katherine, a Monster Hunter who wouldn't hesitate to take her down. Or as she forms a rivalry with Joey, when her grandma has warned her of dangerous and dastardly pirates her whole life.
And it's especially complicated when her school finds out.

Summary
Beau's been in this city for two years, and she's made a life for herself with the help of the friends she was lucky to fall in with early on. A steady job at the library, a best friend for a roommate, and a sense of belonging that evaded her prior to breaking free from her old life. She winds up with a huge dog and soon after makes friends with Yasha, a quiet but striking woman who starts turning up in her life. Obviously, those two things are absolutely coincidental and unrelated.
Things seem to be going really well between them, but in spite of Beau's best efforts she never seems to be able to hang out with Yasha for more than a couple of hours before Yasha has to go. She's a bad liar, but Beau doesn't want to press her for details. Something related to Yasha's past, she can respect that.
And then Yasha's past becomes present, and Beau's got to make sense of Yasha's history if either of them is going to have a future.

He was surprised he even survived at all, but whenever he tried to remember what happened, he could only fill his mind’s eye with the sight of red and orange flashes, against the deep, dark greens of the river.
His head was pounding and it as hard to breath, the stones of the bank digging into his cheeks where the rocks were supporting his head. All his limbs felt heavy and he was just exhausted. He was too cold, and drenched and wet. He was miserable.
Grian, having just escaped the Guild, is now on a mission to find his missing sister. But first, he has to make it through the river, his sickness, and the enemy faeries called "The Hermits".
But, he doesn't quite understand why they're so kind to him, despite being enemies of the Guild that raised him.

Safety was a difficult thing to describe. There were a lot of basic things that living beings needed to survive and to feel safe - warmth, food, water, shelter - but beyond that safety varied from person to person. For some, it was about location. For some, it was about family. For Grian, it was about being away from them.
Grian had felt safe for a long time. Xisuma had reassured him when he’d joined the server that no outside presence could reach him here - although he’d neglected to explain to his Admin quite how powerful the reach of the Watchers were. But as time had passed and nothing had happened, Grian allowed himself to relax. To trust those words were true. To feel safe. The feeling had washed over him like a warm blanket. He let himself forget what it felt like to be afraid, to be hurt, to have to fight. He allowed himself to laugh with his friends, to build incredible structures and create incredible landscapes. He allowed himself to prank and to be pranked. He had fun.

Grian hates the Roughs. The town they’re in is far too small, and dusty, and he’s having to sleep on the floor. So they’ll just have to finish this job as fast as possible, which means no time for subtlety or politeness. Mumbo and Scar, predictably, are fully on board, and while he’s still figuring Gem out, she sure is a crack shot with that rifle.
Gem’s good at what she does, and she knows it. Really, this is mostly just a holiday to her! She’s a little uncertain about Grian, since he’s a little terrifying, especially in reputation, but she’s having fun! It’s good to catch up with Mumbo, and Scar’s always great company. It’s all high-octane fun and games, at least, until it isn’t…
Mistborn Era 2 AU! Grian, Gem, Mumbo, & Scar all have cool powers and weapons, and they’re out here to cause Problems. It goes great! (Well, apart from all the ways it goes very not great.)
