Summary
Pearl coughs, and petals float out of her mouth.
She stares at them, panic brewing in her chest. That… is not normal. Tilly walks over, sniffing them, and Pearl pushes her snout away. She kneels, gathering the petals with a gentleness that surprises her.
She goes to dump them off the edge, but can’t find it in herself to let them blow away in the light breeze. She tries to put them into her inventory, but they don’t disappear, remaining in her hands. Finally, she resigns herself to putting them in a chest. But instead of putting them in one of the chests she already has, she makes a new one, setting it down out of the way, tucked in a corner where the walls will be.
The petals aren’t natural, Pearl knows. No one coughs up flower petals. She doesn’t know why she has, but there’s no denying they came from her mouth. So until she figures out why it happened, she’s going to keep them.
She ignores the strange possessiveness that makes her hands twitch, and returns to building.

“If you don’t get better, you’re going to go off and get yourself killed.” Scott places the bowl in Pearl’s hands. “And then you’ll get me killed. And I’m not having that.”
“That’s all you care about, isn’t it?” Pearl’s eyes are two wide, brown saucers, boring into his. She’s done something strange to them – the bright, lively green is snuffed out, nothing but the slightest sheen across their centre. It’s unnerving, glowing like fireflies in a sea of maroon-red. “That’s the only reason you’re here.”
Something in Scott - something bright, something green - burns in his chest.
“...we’re not friends, Pearl.”

Pearl returns home from Double Life, and she seems to be the only one who remembers what transpired. She's also the only one to retain her injuries. Pearl tries to heal from the explosions that took her and Scott's final life, but it's hard when it feels like she's still going mad.
Things become a little bit easier when she finds somebody who remembers a very similar game.

Pearl really, really wishes she didn't listen to Martyn when he said they should go in that fortress. But she did, and now she's in a mess and a half. Completely alone, there aren't many people she can turn to, besides the two people the whole server enjoys making fun of.

“What- No- You’re setting me up, you know, you’re putting words in my mouth,” Jimmy said, waving his finger at her. She broke down into giggles, shaking her head and looking back down at the carrots. “You are! Don’t just laugh at me, I know what you’re doing! You’re putting words in my mouth!”
“What? No, never, Jimmy. I’m not putting words into your mouth, I know what you mean, you just think I’m helpless because I’m a princess and not some rough and tumble sheriff like you!” Gem said, letting her voice turn breezy as she pushed the chopped carrot to the side and put a new one on the board.
“That’s not what I said,” Jimmy defended, exasperated. “And you know, even if I was, I wouldn’t be wrong! Those are some awful carrot coins!”
“What?!”
