Soohwan blinked, doing some quick mental math in his head. He nodded instinctively, though a part of him really didn’t want to be thinking about the timeline of his hyung’s heat cycle.
“Well then…” she mused, stretching out the words deliberately, as if savoring the moment.
Soohwan already knew he wasn’t going to like whatever was coming next.
“Wouldn’t that mean the father was around at Worlds last year?”

Yechan doesn’t get to hope for anything else. This is what he has known, has understood all too well jumping into this pit—loving too quickly, falling too hard—like always—
This is what you get for being in love with the sun.
The only one Yechan can really get mad at is himself.

Summary

Don Quixote of La Manchaland has spent the last two hundred years dwelling on all his failures, and has come to the only logical conclusion: That his nature as a bloodfiend prevents any manner of change, and that his dream had been nothing but a fantasy. With his family dead, he has resigned himself to the same fate; only to end up living with a small human child who still has a dream of his own.
Maybe they can both learn something from each other.
