“So if it’s dark we can do something?” Yan Wushi said, leaning in to breathe over Shen Qiao’s ear.
“No, I only meant—” He paused to try and push Yan Wushi away, but as always, that man’s hands were just too fast. They exchanged a few blows, nothing too dramatic, and by the end of it, Yan Wushi had pulled Shen Qiao’s belt completely off. Tossing the fabric off to the side, Yan Wushi stalked forward. He stared openly at the two pink marks he’d left on Shen Qiao’s throat.

“Yan-zongzhu is overly gracious,” he replied curtly.
“So even if Xie Ling is no longer here, this venerable one can feed you in his stead—”
“Yan Wushi!” Shen Qiao suddenly burst out warningly. He couldn’t understand why the other man was bringing up Xie Ling over and over again. He’d done so a few times before in a mocking fashion, but today seemed especially excessive—and if Xie Ling was already long gone now, what was the point of still harping on this matter?

It was eerie, seeing Shen Qingqiu like this. Though graceful and elegant, his shizun was a man constantly in motion—tilting his head as he turned the pages of a book, weaving through his disciples as he assessed their sword forms, or simply fluttering his fan when otherwise still. Even in sleep, he was prone to twitching or murmuring or the occasional snore—though he would vehemently deny the latter.
So, to see Shen Qingqiu like this, silent and still, hardly even seeming to breathe…
It felt too reminiscent of a time Luo Binghe would rather forget.
Shen Qingqiu gets hit with a curse that puts him into a sleep that resembles death. Luo Binghe helps, of course—no matter how much it pains him to do so.
