Rey nods, face set in a solemn expression and he absolutely resents how she can seem so calm and yet daringly cheeky at the same time.
He decides that it is her eyes.
“Okay, Ben, how do you like your coffee?” A glimmer of a smirk appears on her lips.
He barely resists throwing everything on his desk to the ground. Again.
If Rey Kenobi wasn’t a fantastic PA and had a spectacular arse in those skirts she wears that he highly suspects are meant to torment him with sexual frustration, he would’ve fired her a long time ago.

"I can listen no longer in silence."
The hologram projection of his strangely handsome face is cobalt blue, flickering, and full of static. "I must speak to you, Rey. You… you pierce my soul. I am half agony, half hope. Tell me that I am not too late.” He groans, runs his hands through his dark, silver-streaked hair, then refocuses his gaze on the holorecorder. “I offer myself to you again with a heart even more your own than when you almost broke it, eight and a half years ago. Do not say that man forgets sooner than woman, that his love has an earlier death."
Here the recording of Ben takes a deep breath, and looks down at something outside the holorecorder’s field of view. Perhaps at his hands, Rey manages to think, through the veil of shock and timid, fluttering hope. She wishes she were there with him, so she could take them in her own, and offer him the confidence to carry on.
But this is only a hologram, so she must wait. Eventually, when he looks up again, his features have settled. He looks… Fierce. Determined. Self-assured.
"I have loved none but you," he says.

"Have you ever had a dog before?" she asks him, casting a glance into his direction. Her profile is sharp - high cheekbones, straight nose, a dusting of freckles dotting her skin - and Ben is fascinated by her to the point he doesn't remember how to talk anymore.
He tries anyway. "No," he says, then he scrunches up his nose. "Yes. No".
Congratulation, Solo, you really have a way with words. How you even manage to write books is really a mystery.
She barely turns into his direction, staring at him with a smirk and a raised eyebrow. It makes him blush even harder, red ears peaking through his hair. "Do you answer all the questions like that?"
-- or: Ben went out to get a dog, and he got home with a poodle and a crush on the girl working at the shelter. That's life, right?
