Summary
“Glad to see you back among the living,” Phainon says through a yawn, clearly having spent the night in the uncomfortable chair in the infirmary by Mydei’s side. Like he often does.
Mydei’s head hurts. Just the regular kind of pain, easily managed by ignoring it until it goes away. But what makes it worse, is the confusion at his predicament. The memories returning to him in death used to vary in time and people who appeared in them. Why is it always Phainon nowadays?
“Fuck you,” Mydei says, hoarsely. He feels like he is losing his mind.
Phainon’s mouth locks mid-yawn and he blinks down at him stupidly, tilting his head with confusion. It’s probably fair, he hasn’t even done anything to earn Mydei’s ire as of late.
or; Human brain lives for a few more minutes after dying, replaying the most cherished memories. Mydei starts seeing Phainon after each of his deaths.

Phainon laughs, loud and wide at that. “Yeah, like an old married couple, don’t you think?”
“Prove it,” Alexander says, crossing his arms.
Seeming like he was expecting Alexander to say such a thing, Phainon shrugs. “Sure.”
Mydei sees the kiss coming and doesn’t bother stopping it.
Phainon has a stalker, so he proposes that he and Mydei fake date. It goes as well as you would expect.

Summary
Competitiveness flares into Mydeimos’ chest, especially now that he’s thinking a bit clearer with a climax out of the way. He turns and meets Phainon’s eye. “You damn boaster,” he accuses, pushing himself up on shaking limbs. “I’m gonna make you work for it now that you’ve pleased me.”
Those words seem to coat Phainon from head to toe as Mydeimos speaks them, and realization crosses his face. “Mydeimos.. Mydei, no, you can’t seriously-”
“Oh, I can. And I’m going to. On your feet, dog.”
The petname makes Phainon jump, and Mydeimos watches his eyes go wide with understanding. The demon scrambles to obey, standing from the bed and crossing his arms behind his back. Mydeimos regards him with a critical eye, searching for flaws in Phainon’s perfect, military positioning.
“Kneel.”

Khaslana can’t bring himself to refuse, for maybe even he wishes that things could be like how they were before. Even with the black tide looming before them, back when he was just Phainon, the nameless swordmaster from Aedes Elysiae. When things were so, so simple, and he didn’t know the truth. When he didn’t know that he was that Flame Reaver. When he was so… so unaware.
And so they do.
He’s so… unsure. For how does one used to ending a life with a single swing of a sword go back to nonlethal strikes?
But Mydei is there, and a part of him hopes.
