Summary
John wasn’t used to the silence. He caught himself noticing it again and again, which is something he never even realised was possible. He reckoned it was natural, to notice the absence of something. Especially when it used to be so disruptive.
He made a face. Not disruptive. Yet, he couldn’t think of an adjective for it.

Blackbeard stood in his deck, knife in one hand, the other dangerously inches away from his gun. Stede had his sword, but his stance made it clear he had no intention of actually using it. Stede walked without guarding any particular side of his body, he led himself with his entire being, with full intention of facing Blackbeard. And, as he walked towards the other man — whose expression made Stede’s guts flip in a mixture of fear and excitement, anxiety and, well, love — he realised that he trusted Ed to intervene in the situation. Ed wouldn’t allow Blackbeard to hurt him, not intentionally, or not fatally, at least. So they could talk.

The man hovering over him leaned back, releasing Grian completely. Cold night air rushed in to fill the void.
“I guess it’s out in the open now,” the stranger hummed. “Shame. I wanted to avoid this.”
With the additional glow occupying the space between them, Grian was finally able to catch features that were lost in the prior darkness. His curiosity outweighed all else, and he drank them in greedily. As soon as he saw who sat across from him, alarms blared in his mind.
This man wasn’t a civilian, wasn’t even a hero.
“Hello, Doctor,” the villain mused. “You were quite the help today.”

Summary
“John?” Sherlock’s voice was tense, tired, almost fragile. He wasn’t saying John’s name to attract attention in the way he usually would, but instead was asking for it. He hadn’t said Watson, which was normally something John found sweet, but now only built upon the rapidly growing feeling that something was wrong.
“Hm?” John said, slowly pulling his head away from the cabinet and closing it.
Sherlock had his arms tightly folded around his middle, wearing only a t-shirt–having likely tossed the hoodie to the floor–and his gaze was fixed firmly on the floor.
He didn’t speak. He just breathed there, body fixed in the doorway as if it were built there.
What had Mrs Holmes said?
“Sherlock…” John said, carefully approaching, holding out one hand, inviting Sherlock to speak.
“My, um.” He said, in that same, fragile tone, “My brother? He died.”

Sherlock receives news that his brother has passed away. Luckily, he knows it's damn hard to kill a Holmes.

But then Scott stopped talking, and Pyro quickly followed suit. The nobleman’s nose scrunched up, his now pointier ears (seriously, how had nobody noticed that? He wasn’t crazy! They just refused to look!) twitched. All that Avid could hear was his own heartbeat. He wasn’t breathing, he wasn’t moving. He refused to let out a single sound. He wasn’t ready, not to go against two of them. Maybe if he’d just come across one of them by themselves, he could have… surely if it was Pyro. Scott he was far more afraid of.
“It sounds like we have company”. Following Scott’s words, everything moved in slow motion. The vampire’s head turned, their eyes locked together, and then Avid was running.
He didn’t know where he was going. There was nowhere for him to run. He was far away from town, outside of any proper path, and, most importantly, nobody believed him. Nobody had tried going after him. He had no allies left. Nobody would have known if he had died.
Avid was going to die.
