Ilya had been scrolling on his phone exactly two days ago when a random sponsored post from the United States National Parks Service popped up (he wasn’t sure why as he had only lived in Canada since leaving Russia years ago). A volcano on the Island of Hawai’i had entered its 20th fountaining episode since December of 2024. Ilya began looking up videos of past eruptions and felt a desire to try to see it for himself that morning. He searched for an agency close to him in Ottawa and now found himself sitting in this chair, across from a strikingly beautiful man he assumed to be about his age, freckles dancing across his cheeks and moody, traveling dark eyes.

He tries not to keep track of her career, but when it's playing on the screen like this, it's hard to look away. She is the spitting image of his mother, curly blonde hair, lithe frame, piercing blue eyes. She is her namesake. And he doesn’t know her at all.
