“Hey, babe. Been looking everywhere for you.”
The voice was low, honeyed, warm in all the right places. It fell over Rumi in a way the man’s voice hadn’t, settling into her bones and gnawing faintly, already leaving impressions on her marrow.
And yet another touch, this one lighter, a palm splayed across the small of her back, a second body pressing into hers from behind.
“Yeah, we thought we lost you for a sec there.” This voice, a little higher, but no less deadly.
Not one, but two strangers.
“Can’t you see you’re interrupting something?” the guy snapped at them.
“Can’t you see,” the first voice mocked, “she’s not yours?”
OR
Two women step in when a guy gets pushy with Rumi at a bar. What happens after is meant to be a one-night stand, nothing more.
But rarely do things turn out exactly the way they're meant to.

Summary
The client hadn’t really requested anything at all; their emails had been almost overly polite, if not jarringly formal, and had selected only the most vanilla options on the questionnaire she provided. Certainly a far cry from the standard practices of her usual clientele, but this one had paid upfront and picked this expensive hotel, and Mira’s fees are dear enough on their own that she had been coloured intrigued.
Mira takes a left down the hallway after leaving the elevator and finds herself at the door to the room. She doesn’t steel herself—doesn’t need to. She can handle anything. Has handled most things. Mira swipes the keycard and lets herself in.
The person sitting on the bed is probably the last thing she expects.
In which Mira is a professional, Rumi is socially inept, and Zoey is also there. Let's hope nobody catches feelings.

“Mira! I need help!” Zoey’s voice is crystal clear between the sound of whizzing shin-kals.
Magenta flares through the Honmoon at Zoey’s very words. Just as Mira moves to respond, Zoey’s phone hangs up. She turns off the stove with the flick of her wrist, sliding toward the elevator with her socked feet. Before Mira can put on her shoes, Rumi appears in the hall in a cloud of magenta smoke.
Mira has to stop and stare at Rumi for a moment. She’s wearing something she’d never be caught in outside a photoshoot. Mira loses her train of thought somewhere between the low V-neck, the black coat, her jewelry, and leather boots. Her mouth waters a little at the sight of Rumi, assisted by the smell of near-finished bulgogi wafting through the air.
Mira almost forgets about their other girlfriend for a moment. Almost. (She knows Zoey wouldn’t blame her.)
“Zoey,” Rumi says simply, holding out her hand to Mira. “She’s at the breach.”

Rumi’s tone freezes her in place. It’s gentle but cautious and peeking at her face—her expression hesitant, if not worried—confirms Zoey’s fears; whatever Rumi wants to talk about, Zoey isn’t going to like it.
‘Sure! Absolutely! I’m kinda in the middle of something—do you wanna talk about it now or later? Later is probably better for me,’ she muses with a wide grin that hopefully hides the way her heart feels like Rumi has thrown it onto a roller coaster without any of the safety checks or bumpers. Everything is climbing, climbing. Zoey is definitely not sweating. ‘Oh, later is actually - it might have to be, like, later later because I promised Mira that we would go on a shop run—’
‘No, you didn’t.’ Mira doesn’t even bother to look up from her phone when she commits her foul treachery. ‘When I asked you to come, you said you’d—and I quote—vivisect me if I made you leave the house today.’

Summary
Ryu Rumi isn't afraid of dying. It happens to everyone sooner or later. There's no point worrying about it, in her opinion, but Bobby does. Worry, that is. That's the only reason she allows the bodyguards to stick around - not because they're gorgeous and mysterious and fascinating.
This is the biggest job Mira has ever been offered. She's pretty sure there's a catch (there always is, things don't just get handed to people like her) but until then, she's going to prove that she earned this. And figure out why the hell Miss Ryu is so calm about the situation.
And Zoey... has kind of a lot going on. Her mum wants her to do something safer (something she can brag to her book club about). And her dad wants her to come back to America and work a nine-to-five in his firm (yuck). She wants to prove to them both that she can take care of herself. Becoming a bodyguard to the rich and famous halfway across the world in Seoul is self-preservation, is what it is! Bored is as good as dead! (Is that insensitive when her client is literally getting death threats?)
Or: someone wants Ryu Rumi dead. Bobby wants Ryu Rumi to stay alive, please, and hires two bodyguards to ensure it.

Summary
In hindsight, it should have been obvious. The way Rumi refused to go to the bathhouse, her bizarre relationship with Celine, this whole thing with the Saja Boys? Mira prided herself on reading people, and she felt stupid for not seeing it sooner. The pieces were all there, just waiting to be put together.
Rumi was gay.
The night after the joint signing with the Saja Boys, Mira went to confront Rumi about her ongoing weird behavior. Instead of letting hurt feelings drive the conversation, Mira took a minute to try and figure out what might be wrong. Unfortunately, she came to the completely wrong conclusion.
Misunderstandings ensue. They talk it out.
For better or worse, everything changes.

“Ow!” Mira says. Zoey can hear her hit the ground, but she keeps fighting the demon in front of her.
“Mira!” It’s Rumi. Zoey can’t turn away while she slings another shin-kal.
“Wait, Rumi-- no!”
Zoey unleashes a quick roundhouse, striking the demon in the side of his face. She tries to hit him with another shin-kal, but he’s still not going down.
There’s a sharp inhalation of breath that Zoey nearly misses underneath the sound of her heartbeat in her ears. The blood-curdling scream that follows cuts through it like a hot knife through butter.
“RUMI!”
Zoey turns her head so fast that she nearly gets whiplash. It’s dark, and Zoey can’t really see what’s happening behind her… but she has never heard Mira scream like this.
OR: Rumi takes a devastating hit for Mira, and they all have to deal with the consequences of loving each other so much that it hurts.

Mira raises an eyebrow. “You violently flinching and crashing into the wall is nothing?”
Rumi winces. She doesn’t want to lie, but how is she supposed to tell the truth?
How is she supposed to tell them that the night of the idol awards won’t leave her mind?
That it’s their faces—twisted and vicious—that has her shaking in the middle of the night, holding back tears.
That she knows in her soul that it wasn’t them on that stage but her mind can’t seem to forget the stupid smirks, the rough hands, the fucking song—and her body can’t help but flinch, can’t help the hammering that starts in her chest, can’t help the sweat the builds up in her back as her entire body locks up.
She can’t tell them that.

“Have you ever thought of… something besides monogamy?”
Mira’s thumb stilled on the screen. She looked up, slow. “…What?”
Zoey’s hands twisted in her lap. “Like—not open relationships. Just… not just one person. Have you ever thought about being with more than one person and it still being okay?”
She wasn’t looking at Mira. Her voice was tight, like it hurt to speak. Mira watched her with a furrowed brow, still quiet.
“I feel so guilty all the time. Because I love you, Mira. I love you, and this doesn’t change that, but I see her and I want to make her smile and I want her to hold my hand and I think she’s beautiful and weird and sweet and I—”
She finally looked up, tears shining in her eyes.
“I think I ruined us. And I’m so sorry.”
Mira just stared at her. Wide-eyed. Silent.
Zoey’s heart dropped. “Say something.”
Mira exhaled like she’d been holding her breath for a month.
Then she visibly deflated—shoulders dropping, head tilting back against the wall—and let out a quiet, choked laugh.
“…Oh thank god.”
