Summary
To take the private investigator exam you needed 6000 hours of logged experience working directly under someone already licensed. Holland March thought he'd be annoyed at needing to supervise every one of those hours for Jackson Healy, but he's finding himself much more appreciative of his partner's company than he expected.
But acknowledging the depth of those feelings is also unburying some ugly history from March's younger years as a policeman with the LAPD, when he learned what was needed to survive as a cop.
Can he break down some of his painfully taught defense mechanisms enough to risk finding something deeper with Healy? Can he ever feel safe enough to realise feelings deliberately crushed down for more than a decade? Or is realising this potential connection worth it all?

With the creation of the Nice Guys Agency, the small seedy apartment where he was living was transformed into an office.
He had said it was still his apartment, March had said that would be two months since he didn't sleep in. Because Jack preferred the warmth of the March house, despite the sofa that hurt his back. But he was ready to have back pain all the days if he could wake up to cook a copious breakfast for the March.
His stomach twisted uncomfortably at the thought.

Summary
Getting pregnant from a drunken one-night-stand in the mid 60's certainly wasn't one of Holland March's brightest ideas. He'd lost his job, his family, and his self-respect in one fell swoop.
But it had given him Holly, and Holland could never bring himself to regret that.
It had also given him memories of the Alpha of his dreams. Bittersweet and well-worn from lonely nights reminiscing, but it was what he deserved, after all. He was content.
Well, he was, until an enforcer had turned up on his doorstep and knocked his life into free fall all over again.
OR: Jackson Healy is Holly March's Alpha father from a one-night stand. March recognises him immediately, but Healy seems to have no idea. He slots perfectly into their weird little family anyway.
