"I guess it is a little weird," Seonghwa says, but he doesn't sound bothered by the fact. "But to be honest…most of the time I don't really think about it. I've only seen you as a wolf that one time." He rests a hand on Hongjoong's cheek. "You're just Hongjoong to me. That's all."

"What were you looking for outside?" Seonghwa asks once they've finished eating.
Hongjoong's gaze shifts away from him. "I was hoping that maybe there'd be a little deck around the back, but I didn't find anything. I did see a trail that looks like it leads to the beach, though."
"We can explore tomorrow," Seonghwa says. "As much as I like animals, I don't think I want to meet anything that lurks in a forest at night."
Hongjoong exhales slowly. "Yeah, you're right about that."

Summary
Every seafarer knows that mermaids are a commodity in black markets. Their flesh holds power beyond what humans can comprehend. If consumed, a mermaid will give its attributes to whoever has eaten them. Their tears are said to heal and eating enough blood and meat is said to grant immortality, but Hongjoong wouldn’t know about that. He’s far more interested in consuming the tongue and language center of the brain so as to communicate with the beasts at the bottom of the sea. With the power of mermaid speech, Hongjoong plans to leech their secrets from them to better fish them up. But it’s only a great sense of unease Hongjoong gains when he catches a mermaid with stars in his eyes and discovers the creatures are far more human than what he has been told.

Summary
When the spaceship Destiny gains two crewmembers, it’s natural that Mingi, as the technical maintenance officer, takes the new android under his wing and starts giving him jobs around the ship. He’s not quite sure what model ‘Yeosang’ is, but he’s clearly very advanced, with a high-quality humanoid body, a large database of information, and high enough artificial intelligence to hold full conversations, even if he’s still a little stilted and awkward sometimes. He almost makes a convincing human. Too convincing, in fact – before long, Mingi realises with panic that he’s starting to catch feelings for a computer who can’t possibly reciprocate them.
Meanwhile, Kang Yeosang, regular human with a lot of random knowledge, a good brain for maths, and a tendency to stare blankly into space, is enjoying all their time spent in the engine room together, and quietly hoping his crush on Mingi might just be mutual.

“It’s illegal to hunt animals,” Seonghwa explained softly, eyes flicking over to where Hongjoong was now glaring distastefully at their cottage as a whole. “We get allotted rations from the city on a weekly basis.”
“You aren’t allowed to hunt?” Mingi asked. “Like— at all? What if something happens to your blood supply?”
Yeosang shrugged. “We starve,” he deadpanned.
“Vampires are ruthless, bloodthirsty monsters,” Hongjoong bit out. “The only way they’re allowed to hunt is if they’re a part of a pack because they need to be kept in check. I can’t imagine what sort of delusional pack would want the burden of bloodsuckers though.”

Seonghwa will do anything to keep his fledglings safe. Anything. Hongjoong's top priority has always been and will always be the safety and well-being of his packmates.
They learn they're not as dissimilar as they once believed themselves to be. And they could perhaps be more if they allow themselves to trust one another.

Summary

The creature's eyes opened and shut, unused to the brightness of the afternoon sun. Eyes landed first on the house and courtyard before him, then to Hongjoong’s father, then his brother, then him.
The eyes bored into his. Hongjoong saw the long, delicate eyelashes, angular eyebrows, and the perfect cheekbones. Long, slender fingers came out of the blanket to grip delicately onto the wood of the wagon beneath it. He barely saw the latter, consumed as he suddenly was.
The witch’s head cocked to the side, examining him. Time stood still, and Hongjoong’s breath caught in his throat as he was hit with the urge to vomit, to cry, to laugh, to sing, all at once.
In which Hongjoong, witch hunter, is tasked with delivering the witch Seonghwa to his execution.

Summary

Yeosang proves to live up to his reputation, with his head mostly up in the clouds and his hands in other people’s guts, all while being capable to throw some less than professional remarks in Jongho’s direction. However, there is more to him than he lets on and more hidden behind his flirtations and out of pocket remarks. The organization, too, proves to be hiding beneath masks and false hope.
Jongho doesn’t know how the hell he’s supposed to save the city with his rag tag hero team of a convict and an injured soldier—and then some more. Then again, he doesn’t quite know how to save his heart either.

“Yeah, you thought about them,” Hongjoong said, turning just enough to look at him now, eyes sharp in an unfamiliar way that made Seonghwa take a half-step back. Because Hongjoong had never looked at him that way. Ever. “Not me. Not us. You thought about them. Two strays you didn't even know of until the second you decided to make that decision."
OR: Hongjoong loved Seonghwa more than anything, Hell. They were planning a future together. But when Seonghwa takes home two stray hybrids without even consulting him, Hongjoong couldn’t help but wonder if there was still room for him in the future Seonghwa was building, or if he was being left behind.
