Summary
After a busy blur of a year, Adora opts to spend Candlenights on her own. Not that she wouldn't mine some company, of course - specifically from a certain dark-haired, cinnamon-voiced bartender who caught her eye (and saved her life) during last year's ski retreat. But without her number, what are the chances of rekindling that spark on the coldest, snowiest night of the year?
Perhaps a surprise trip to the store for a last-minute ingredient will be just the Candlenights magic they both need to bring this tale to a very happy ending.

"Hey, it's okay. Just relax, straighten your legs, and start walking."
Adora's body did so reflexively and to her surprise, the air beneath her boots felt stable and calm. Gingerly, she leaned her weight forward and found that the invisible surface did not give way.
"There you go, now you're getting it," Catra whispered after sensing the lingering tension in her ward's body. She leaned in closer such that her chin rested in the crook of Adora's neck. "Don't worry, I've got you."
A few dreamy steps further, the sorceress looked over and caught Adora staring. With an enticing grin, she returned the favor.
"Look at you. You're a natural."
"Heh...I guess so."
"And here I thought you were some magic-less flower delivery girl."
"You're pretty magical yourself."

"Catra, no. We can't do any of that."
Catra looks up from the duvet with an indignant scowl. “And why not? It’s what she deserves.”
Stepping back and instinctively bracing herself, Adora lifts the box's worn copper latch and pulls open the lid. There, staring back at her in charred garnet hues, is an all-too-familiar mask, a veil that had praised her without justification and punished Catra without cause.
“I mean, sort of." Adora sighs and looks up from the box, finding the comfort of Catra's familiar blue-and-pale-yellows at once. "But she also sacrificed herself for us. I don’t know if we’d have made it to the Heart without her doing that.”
For a moment, a flame of betrayal flickers behind Catra's mismatched eyes, reminding Adora of the moment they parted ways at Thaymor.
“You’re joking, right?" the brunette growls back, her ears and tail immediately flicking to attention. "She didn’t do that for us. She did that because she wanted to feel like the good guy for once. It was another one of her damn power trips and I cannot believe you’re praising her for it.”

Emotions flare and old wounds ache as Adora and Catra decide what to do with Shadow Weaver’s remains.

Summary
They stay that way for a long time, Catra’s face tucked into Adora’s shoulder, Adora gently cradling Catra’s head. Adora is careful not to hug Catra too hard or make her feel restrained, anticipating the moment that Catra will start to pull away — but Catra doesn’t. She hangs on so tightly it hurts, her claws digging through Adora’s jacket and into her back, latching into her like she did when she was a kitten and didn’t know how much her claws could hurt. Adora tries not to wince, tries not to move a single muscle, worried that if she does the spell will break and Catra will struggle away, appalled at having shown weakness.
But Catra doesn’t let go. And so neither does Adora.

Catra wants. Emotionally, it's the scariest thing she’s done since sending Glimmer into the vastness of space while six clones tried to take her down, sure that she was doing the one good thing.
Meanwhile, life carries on: Glimmer and Bow have news, Entrapta keeps naming her tech, and they get an intergalactic message that calls for She-Ra.

“If you’re done talking about Adora and Catra getting married,” says Entrapta, with all the subtlety and tact of a sledgehammer, “I have calculated the voltage needed…”
Wherever the rest of Entrapta’s sentence is going to go, it falls away. The whole room falls away as understanding hits Catra like a bolt of lightning, an electrifying shock to her system that leaves her reeling. Getting married? Her and Adora? Questions well up on her tongue — What? Why? — and she doesn’t realize she has fumbled through those fragmented inquiries until Frosta answers her.
“Um. You’re wearing Adora’s pin.”
