Scaramouche’s hair is soaked and sticking to the back of his neck, droplets of rainwater disappearing into the collar of his sweater. Not even his. Not really. Because that shade of cream is definitely not something Scaramouche willingly picked out for himself, which means that the bastard waltzed into Kazuha’s room and took something straight out of his closet without even bothering to ask.
But that’s not the concerning bit.
The concerning bit is that Scaramouche, certified bad roommate and sweater thief, is cradling the tiniest black cat Kazuha has laid eyes on during his brief mortal existence in his cupped palms, and looking down at her in what Kazuha can only assume is open adoration.
Or: Kazuha hates Scaramouche. Hates him. He also can't stop writing poetry about him.

Yet for all of the closeness and the danger of the situation, he couldn't help but feel strangely aroused by the man's nearness.
He stared ahead, his eyes widening slightly as Kazuha threatened him. There was the smallest hint of amusement in his own expression, and his voice was still calm when he spoke.

When Kazuha first met the Kabukimono, he was but a child still clinging to his father's legs.
The first thing he noticed was that there was no sound coming from the Kabukimono. In every living creature, there was always a sound. Even a slime has sound coming from within its body, proof of them being alive.
But from this man—this being—he heard nothing.
He was like the wind, blowing through the land without any purpose. Wherever he went, there would be no trace of him having ever existed. As a child, Kazuha did not think much of it. When he saw the being’s beautiful face, all confusion as to why the being had no sound was thrown out the window. He hid behind his father’s leg in embarrassment, causing him to be reprimanded for his lack of manners.
“My deepest apologies, Kabukimono-sama," Kazuha watched his father bow to the being. "My son is a bit shy.”

Scaramouche hated. He loathed. He despised the things that made him strange.He wasn’t normal. He never would be. There was something wrong with him and that wasn’t something he could just change. If Scaramouche could, he would’ve done it a long time ago.
That was why he liked the drugs. The weed that made him all fuzzy and euphoric inside. Sure, it’d leave him feeling more empty than he was before, but in the minutes and hours he was lost with the stars, Scaramouche found that everything was okay even if it wasn’t. The drugs may have lied to him, but he didn’t care.
Scaramouche would always fall back to that high even if it meant he’d come crashing down every time. A bit more broken and frail each time.
Scaramouche learns to cope with the death of his mother in all the wrong ways. Facing the consequences of his drug fueled haze, Scaramouche is forced to move neighborhoods and meets a boy, Kazuha, who he learns is just as addicting.Bookmarked by Bambu_nt
