Summary
“Oh? What’s this?” Wilbur questioned.
Tommy glanced up, bright blue eyes meeting a dark brown. There was a reason Wilbur’s crew was one of the most powerful.
Wilbur was a Vehlor. Also known as a space vampire.
Vehlor was not one single species. It was a virus. It was passed on through venom into its victim, where the DNA of the host would be injected into the victim. It was more of a symbiotic relationship. With each passing of DNA, the strength of the next host would be increased.
Whatever strength one alien species possessed would be passed on to the next, and so on. Ultimately making the most powerful species in the universe. Sometimes they would even pass on whole extra limbs.
Vehlors passing on their DNA had become strictly regulated by the Council due to just how big of a threat they could be.
Tommy didn’t know what species Wilbur had been, but now he was terrifying.
Or, space vampire pirate Wilbur adopts a human.

“Since when the hell does it snow this much in Brighton?” Tommy grumbles, brows furrowing at the large snowflakes outside of Wilbur’s window
“Actually,” Wilbur responds, “Not that often.” He pulls out his phone, frantically searching for information explaining why the sudden snowfall. “It’s pretty rare Brighton ever gets snow.”
“Holy shit, this is a lot of snow” Tommy gapes as he continues watching the snow fall faster and faster, “I can barely see the road. It’s like flying around like a ton of birds or something”
“It is that bad?” Wilbur says, standing up from the couch to go hunch behind Tommy and glace out the window
“Oh” Wilbur gasps, “Ya it’s that bad”

Summary
Yet he can breathe. Under water. The mere thought short circuits Tommy’s brain.
There’s another coo, so soothing and gentle that it brings Tommy back to the present quickly. Like it were softly calling his attention, like a parent or something, but Tommy isn’t sure how he knows that.
Still, he tries to speak. Just because he can apparently breathe underwater, doesn’t mean he isn’t scared out of his fucking mind.
What’s going on? He wants to ask. What happened? But all that comes out is a series of weird chirping sounds, getting higher and louder and more frantic as Tommy begins to panic again.
Or, you don't take potions from giant alien mermaids you've only known for like 3 months.

But it was comforting, to hurt himself. He found safety in the pain.

“Oh really?” Wilbur sounds intrigued, but more so amused. “Prove it, then.”
With a flourish, Tommy stands up, and almost immediately falls over. Okay, so maybe that wasn’t the best idea.
As expected, Wilbur starts to laugh at him like the prick that he is, even though he’d immediately put his arms out to catch Tommy before he could hit the ground.
“My apologies for not believing you, Tom,” Wilbur says with a teasing tone as he helps Tommy sit back down onto the rolling chair. “It seems like you are, in fact, in the ‘prime’ of your health.”
Tommy glares at him, sniffing a bit. “I hope your building explodes.”
or, tommy (better known as spider-man) succeeds in being both the coolest superhero ever… and the most accident prone.
