Soap had the lieutenant whining and writhing underneath him, all from just a few words. It made him feel powerful beyond belief.”

Protecting his younger brother is harder than he thinks when the boy thinks they are in a war for independence. The next day, their schools ask them about their bruises, Wilbur spills and they are brought to a new foster home. Will Wilbur have to continue to protect his younger brother from these strangers? It was hard when he had everyone else in the town depending on him as part of the guard, but he was determined. He'd already lost his wife to the creatures that prowled outside the town's walls, and he refused to lose any more of the ones he loved. His sons would live a safe life if he had to die trying.
So when he finds out about a secret his sons had been hiding from him, he will do anything to keep them safe. Even if it means hunting down the odd-looking giant they had come to love.

“Well, I should-” And he’s not even finished his words before a cold hand slides into his, and grips his fingers with surprising strength.
“Please.” George’s voice is a broken whisper, and Dream lifts his head to meet watery brown eyes, tears caught on wispy lashes. “Please stay, Dream. I’m so cold.”
Dream wonders if he’s dreaming, if he’s hearing everything right. The hand clutching his own is trembling with such a force Dream’s worried the other might collapse, and he quickly slides his other hand over George’s, giving his clammy hand a light squeeze.
“Yeah, yeah. Of course, George. I’ll stay.” Dream says softly. “I can.. I can grab a chair-”
“No. Stay here, in bed.”
Okay, now Dream’s sure he’s dreaming.

Dream hasn't heard from George all day, and when he finally gets in touch with his boss turned friend, he discovers a sick mess of a man.
And man, Dream can't just leave the guy to be sick.

George tried not to retch. Trying to think of something to say that wouldn’t end with Theo somehow persuading him, George said, “Sorry, but I’m not interested. I have a boyfriend already.”
Then, he felt a warm presence at his back and two hands snaking around his waist. After a kiss to the top of his head, a familiar, and very welcome voice, said softly, “Hey there, Gogy. Where did you want to go for our date tonight?”
Instantly, George’s entire demeanor lit up.
“Dreamie!” George grinned, spinning around with Dream’s hands still linked around his waist to wrap his arms around his neck and press a kiss to his jaw. Dream looked down at him so fondly that George thought he would melt. He’s such a good actor.

Dream pretends to be George's boyfriend to save him from some creep, but then they just never stop. Maybe it's because they're perfect for each other.
