That Data has a nervous system and if he does, that might shed some light on what types of feelings he has however muted they may be, if any that is.
Life seems to finally start going in a direction that you quite like… you've made wonderful new friends and meeting Data and being his friend is like a dream. That is until the assassination attempts start. And things only tailspin from there. And when you finally find out what you truly are, you find you might lose everything you've come to love for it.
