Mr. Frederick Hale, formerly of Helstone, awaits a naval court martial on charges of mutiny, piracy, and treason." John determined to call upon the Hales to make sure there was no connection between this Frederick Hale and his friends at Crampton Court.

Yes, alright, it's one of THOSE fics, loves. (As if North and South didn't have enough of them, I’ve gone and written another one.) Here we have the forced marriage trope but without all the misunderstandings and angst and torture over married "activities". Like my friend DaisyNinjaGirl (Whose similarly inspired story is wonderful. Please read it.) I wanted to answer the question 'What if John and Margaret both decided to be honest and open and just try, for the love of all that's holy, to actually get along...all while properly shagging like normal people?' And here we are.
This is for anyone who's ever come home from a bloody long day and just wanted a smutty, happy, North and South story.
PS. This is already complete. (Yes...I wrote all 20 chapters...aren’t I clever?) So Happy Christmas, loves. I hope you enjoy it!

Margaret wavers backwards, towards her front door, and Mr. Thornton descends the steps until his shoes are touching the cobble below. She had rather expected to have more time to work through her own thoughts on the Incident at the mill, before seeing him again. And yet, he is here, acting the proper gentleman, asking after her welfare. Margaret expects it will be easy enough to brush past him, after giving a satisfactory answer as to her health.
Mr. Thornton, unsurprisingly, is more persistent than that.
