Stone wasn't stupid. He knew there wasn't at all a chance that Robotnik could've come out of that explosion alive. He had seen it with his own eyes, had listened to his final words with his heart in his throat.
And yet. Somehow - just about somehow - he'd survived, thanks to a particular dark-coated hedgehog. Not unharmed - not unscathed judging by the wires connected to him whilst he lay motionless in the hospital bed.
He wouldn't lose him. Not again.

Reopening the Mean Bean under the same name was a risk, he knew, but it was one of the only things he had left that wasn’t off-limits for fear of being discovered. Even if Green Hills was the home of the Blue Blur, he doubted G.U.N. was on the lookout for any trace of the Doctor after… all of that.
So he opened the doors of his cafe once more, and pretended that every cup of coffee he brewed didn’t remind him of what he’d lost.

Stone reopens the Mean Bean in Green Hills, and gets an unexpected regular in the form of a certain blue hedgehog. They may have more in common than they thought.

Summary
There came a noticeable shift in public opinion regarding androids, but society remains divided. Reports of missing androids amplified after the android revolution, leaving lead detective Gavin Reed overwhelmed (and irritated).
A change of pace is granted to Gavin when two humans are murdered in an alleyway one night. What appears to be an open-and-shut-case reveals itself to be something much more complicated. Solving the case would complicate itself even further with Gavin and Connor being forced to work with each other.
Whilst balancing work-life, Gavin and Connor try to navigate their personal life, their relationships and what it means to be human.
