Honestly, he should have known. Life isn’t always normal when you’re Mr Evan Buckley. Not only is he turning 30 single and newly out as a bisexual to everyone, he is so utterly in love with his best friend and there’s nothing he can do about it.
Until on his 30th birthday, he wakes up with a new ability. The ability to listen to the thoughts of other people by touching them! That’s crazy, and he can hear everything! Hen’s plans with Karen, Bobby’s dinner plans with Athena, and even Chim’s!
He can hear all of their thoughts! Even Eddie’s, but why is he having dirty thoughts about someone’s biceps? Is he in love with someone else?
The fic where oblivious Buck still can’t take the hint even with mind-reading powers.
This fic is directly inspired by the BL manga/anime Cherry Magic. Yes I know Buck isn't a virgin so forget about that part of Cherry Magic, it doesn't apply in this fic.
Also FYI, I’m totally ignoring everything that happened in Season 8A because I can’t stand the whole tommy mess and not having Chris in LA :( It’s my fic so my rules lol.

He looks down at his now-cold quarter-full mug and pauses.He doesn’t need you
You should just disappear“Yeah everything’s fine. Just feeling a bit restless.” Buck says swirling his mug.
Eddie sits down beside him, he’s so close that their knees bump together, “Alright, but if you wanna get anything off your chest, I’m all ears.”
Buck looks up from his mug, Eddie’s giving him a warm smile; their knees are touching and he can feel the warmth from Eddie's body, and it makes his heart flutter. For a moment his mind is quiet, and he’s not drowning. Buck’s unable to hold in the smile and small blush that creeps up on him, “Thanks Eds.”And then it all comes crashing down.

He stands there for a few minutes, settling in the realization he’s just had. Realizing the enormity of the situation he and Eddie have on their hands now. What Buck just let walk away from him. Why he’s been so fucking extra and possessive when it comes to Eddie, more than normal.
He eventually can’t stop the shivering, the rain too cold to keep standing under. He turns and walks slowly back to his truck, climbing in and sitting quietly in the warmth, his hands gripping the wheel too tightly. He only has one thought on his mind now...
