Summary
Light Yagami was on the fast track to success until he accidentally killed two men with a Death Note dropped by a rogue shinigami. The awful realization caused a tragedy in the making as he desperately tried to justify and rationalize what he'd done in order to cope. He became a serial killer known as Kira. When L, the world's greatest detective, took on his case, he thought the mysterious man was just another obstacle in the way of the delusional lies he told himself to keep going. He certainly did not expect to fall in love with L during a daring memory gambit. As L closes in on him, Light struggles with his feelings, his actions, and his spiraling mental health.
A retelling of Death Note that diverges from canon.

Summary
Japan was colonized by England in 1697. England and Scotland joined to become Great Britain in 1704. Now it is 1720.
Light Yagami was born in Japan but does not remember much of it. His family moved all the way to Port Royal, Jamaica, when he was very young. His father is an officer in the Royal Navy, but does not have the Captain rank. Born into the upper middle-class, Light lived a comfortable life. Shortly after turning 16, he fled and became a pirate. At some point during his 17th year, he became a pirate captain. Now 18, he is still reckless and inexperienced but has a fierce reputation, causing havoc and destruction.
So the Crown sends Captain Lawliet, a young, prodigious naval officer with an impressive record of arresting pirates and winning battles, to bring Light into custody. He has won the highest award possible in the Navy: the Order of Black Lions. While his methods are unorthodox and he doesn’t care much for the Navy’s strict rules, his skills are undeniable and the Royal Family allows him to do as he pleases. This man is the one all pirates fear, known by various epithets. A game of cat and mouse begins between the two young captains that will shake the Caribbean.

Summary
And he felt, in that fraction of a second, that he’d condemned this man. That he had witnessed his savage ascent, and ripped him cruelly back to the dirt by the chain that had bound them before he could belong to the sky.
It wasn’t a punishment any more than it was a salvation. But if L had to clip his wings, keep him in this state of dullness lest he set himself alight trying to reach the rays of sun, he would.
OR
After Light regains his memories of the Death Note, L gathers enough evidence to arrest him. But instead of sending Light to his executioner, L decides to make a wager.

Summary
Zelda Nohansen lived a normal life in Hyrule: her father is the wealthy Governor of the flourishing Windfall Island, she’s engaged to a respectable sailor, and she’s ready to travel across the sea to her new home beside them. But when pirates intercept her ship on the crossing, she finds herself in a new predicament she'd never planned: questioning everything she has been taught about strict Hylian rules, facing the harsh reality that not all pirates are simply the heartless creatures she’d been told stories about her whole life, and realizing Hylians are not as pure of spirit as she'd been led to believe.
