At 9:32 on a beautiful Sunday morning, a young woman is found in her Chicago apartment dead as a doornail. The time of death is unknown and the cause is ruled a suicide. The funeral is meant to be a quiet, solemn little event, but much to the horror of those come to pay their respects, the casket is empty. A thorough investigation is launched, although perhaps not thorough enough. Aradia Megido's body has disappeared.
Elsewhere, at around the same time, a young man wearing an objectively stupid pair of sunglasses stands over a freshly dug grave, shovel in hand. He checks his watch. Nods impassively. He's right on time.
