Summary
Young Knight-Captain Cullen keeps his heart silent and dead, for Kinloch Hold ruined him with dreams dark, disturbing, and profane. For mages are not people, but weapons, and when he wakes screaming in the night the phrase echoes in his ears.
Then Hawke, apostate, wild and bewitching, saves his life on the Wounded Coast and sets his entire world aflame.
Cullen strikes a deal with her: she can roam about the city as she pleases, as long as she presents him with a weekly report at the Gallows.
He takes a phylactery from her, a silver chain to bind her. She takes all he has forgotten he cared about.

Summary
A big, sweeping tale of two mature people coming together and trying to make it work, despite their pasts. Told in the Inquisition's own words, through letters, personal journal entries, and reports.
Humor, sex, friendship, and most of all, romance. My Inquisitor is a capable and slightly odd mage, who finds herself in a strange dance with a good man, who wants only to atone for his past and build a new life for himself. Can people whose lives were forever altered by the Circles truly find a future together?

Okay. So she was fighting next to a templar, who would probably only lock her up for the rest of her natural life, and an elf who may or may not get an erection from watching her expire in a pool of her own blood. Hawke had been in worse places.
---
Surviving as a mage in Kirkwall is harder than it sounds. A story told in vignettes.
While some vignettes overlap or replace some scenes, most are meant to be inserted between plot points in the game. I do not bother to explain what exactly is going on in these, so if you have no knowledge of the game, the finer details might escape you, but you shouldn't be entirely lost.

Summary
After Wisdom had gone, I hadn’t been sure that Solas would ever return. In time, he did, offering no more explanation than to say, I could hardly abandon you now. Even then the word seemed to catch in my ear. Now. Maybe once before and perhaps one day soon, but not just yet. On that point I had no illusions. Solas was not a man to promise forever, though he was afraid of dying alone.

Summary
The Fade exists in all times and all places. If there is a way to change the Dread Wolf's heart, Carys Lavellan thinks she'll find it there.
She finds more than she expected.
* * *
“Hawke?” she asked hesitantly. “Is that you? Why are you a bird?”
The bird fluffed its black and white-barred chest feathers and shook out its wings, which did have a prodigious span.
“I’m a hawk, get it?” the bird announced.
Carys tilted her head and studied it for a moment.
“I think you’re a Greater Marches fish eagle. They used to roost down by the Waking Sea in those dead snags by the water.”
"Balls," said Hawke, and turned back into the Champion of Kirkwall.

Summary
"I forgive you!" She cried. "All you have to do is stop!"
If he considered it, it was not for long. Soon his shoulders would square, his chin turning up in that way she knew so well. The return of Pride. No matter the instance, it would always come back to this:
She, reaching out, begging him to choose their love. He, leaning in, only for a fraction of a moment, and then no more.
"Ir abelas, vhenan... but I cannot." He kept his eyes away, his face and body turned. "Long before we met I... failed my oldest friend. She died for that failure," he explained. "If I leave the Veil in place, I am destroying the world she wanted. And I will have," he stuttered, "she, will have died for nothing."
Her heart was breaking. Before her and inside her. Her Pride was shattered. So, it would make sense now to turn away. All the same, she would sooner be destroyed at his heel than alone in a world without him.
There was no honour in it, sure, but it was the truth of the thing.
She would allow him his final betrayal. She would accept it; forgive it as the price of loving him.
Her betrayer.

Summary
Lucanis had never been so amused watching someone eat. She paused as she considered every bite, sometimes halving it, like she worried about taking too much though none of her bites could be considered anything but diminutive. She chewed thoroughly, vigorously, always with her fingers pressed to her lips to shield herself. She savored, letting out quiet little sounds of appreciation.
“Is that thyme?” she asked suddenly.
“It is.” He was surprised she could detect it. He had used the barest sprinkling, just enough to tame the bitterness of the onions.
A stirring in the back of his skull, movement from a phantom that had held himself so strangely patient that the absence of him was more jarring than his presence. Cook for her more.
A spark ignited in his chest, a need.

Summary
Rook survived the Kirkwall Circle. She survived Crow training. She even survived a meeting with the Dread Wolf. But, she's starting to wonder if her sanity will survive the Demon of Vyrantium.
Before Spite, before the Antaam, before his "death" and her defiance, Lucanis and Rook had history together. No, not that kind of history, for all that Rook had wished for it. They were colleagues, and on their better days Rook would have even called them friends. Never mind that she had fallen for him from their first mission together; never mind that she was the one mage he trusted to have his back; never mind that she'd saved his life once already and he'd owed her a debt long before the Ossuary. They'd left too many things unsaid, and what words were spoken before it all fell apart had been shouted in anger.
Now it's the end of the world, and with it, a second chance. But a demon, a Blight, and three Elven gods stand in their way, and the odds for anything good are stacked against them. How fortunate then, that a Rook can rise above anything, and a Crow's stubbornness can spite the gods themselves.
It's just getting out of their own way that's the real problem.

One thing he did not foresee was his past lover risking everything to join him.
Ellana Lavellan did give up everything for the Dread Wolf and she has no regrets...at least, not presently. But, in the Fade, her environment reflects reality - and it seems that it’s laced with just as many regrets as the man whose prison she has bound herself to.

Summary
“Oh, gods forbid they respond positively to you doing a good thing,” Neve deadpans. She squeezes him a little again. “That’s sort of how it works, Astarion.”
She can’t even see it. Believes the best of them all so earnestly, himself included, that she can’t see how it would all fall away without her at the center. It’s enough to make a person feel like they might actually deserve it.
“And by it, you mean…?” he asks instead.
Her huffed laugh of disbelief ruffles the hair at his neck. “Friendship, you idiot,” she answers. “And the general acquisition thereof.”
Astarion cuts a sideways look at her as best he can with her still nestled so close. “And is that what we are? Friends?”
He’d meant it to tease her, and yet finds that the silence before her answer twists his stomach. Because…he doesn’t actually know, either.
“Yes, Astarion,” Neve says gently, after a moment. “I think we’re very good friends.”
-
Neve and Astarion, continued. She's not a victim. Not a target. Not just one night it's better to forget. But then...whatever in the world could she be?

Summary
“Fine,” she said. “Do you know the statistically most common way for the authorities to take out organized crime?”
Well, if that was her idea of enticing conversation, it was no wonder she had all those evenings free to chase after scoundrels like him. Still, Astarion didn’t want to antagonize her further and ruin the game, so he pursed his lips and guessed, “A very large, well-placed cannon?”
“Tax fraud.”
She looked at him as if she expected some sort of reaction – maybe a dramatic gasp? A palm flung to his forehead in a theatrical rendition of How could I not think of this?
Everything he could muster was a blink. “Tax … fraud.”
She nodded, obviously excited about what Astarion was sure were two of the most boring words in the English language, combined.

“Well,” he croons, “The fun doesn’t have to be entirely one-sided. Our time could very well be limited. You help me with my condition…and I could help you with yours.”
“My condition?” she asks, her eyebrows now arched to maximum height.
Astarion tilts his head. “Darling, it’s bad enough that we might burst into tentacles any day now. I would hate to see you die a virgin.”
-
Neve already had her hands full, what with trying to keep her companions from killing each other and pushing forward in the face of an uncertain fate. Then the vampire had to go and decide she was sweet enough to want to sink his teeth into.
Another take on how things unfold post-bite.

Summary
It begins as a curious meeting of the minds, where Aloy asks about Tenakth customs and Kotallo is more than happy to speak about his people. A woman whose desire for knowledge burns as bright as the sun above the Desert Clan, and a man whose loyalty is as unfaltering as the All-Mother Mountain herself. But it is in those in-between moments that the threads of deeper truths begin to seek the light.
The truth of deeper wounds, held closed by frayed thread that begins to come apart.
Vision, hunter-sharp, seeing deeper than others ever have.
The barest touch, reaching across a void. The truth of aching loneliness, and a desperate need for companionship.
Two souls, incomplete, finding solace in one another.
[On a semi-hiatus]
_____Shameless shipfic between Aloy and Kotallo. Begins in the ambiguous space between 'The Kulrut' and before 'Cradle of Echoes', and will feature sporadic moments as the game narrative continues through. Kotallo and Aloy's relationship develops over the course of the game and I fix the EGREGIOUS slight that he is not in the final fight.
Mostly Kotaloy dates, though. Because I desperately wanted them to spend more time together.
