Regardless of their opinion on him, no one talked about how young Phantom was, how he was dressed in a hazmat suit like some sort of lab rat. They didn’t want to think about the one time anyone gained a peak under his suit, they saw a patchwork of scars and bruises.
They didn’t want to think about the one time parents were mentioned in his presence, he flinched.
They didn’t want to think about how Phantom died.(AKA everyone in town has a theory of how Phantom came to be. It isn’t pleasant.)

Soon Danny finds himself constantly watching Dash, only to find that Dash is watching back. As Danny's feelings start getting more confusing, a ghost attack leads to his own secrets surfacing. But once everything is out in the open between them, perhaps the growing attraction between them can fin-ally reach its full potential.

Is it running from your problems if your problems consider you to be a dead imprint of consciousness that killed their son? Yes, but Danny tries not to think about how his nightmares of his parents trying to kill him came true when they found out he was Phantom.
After being on the run from his parents and the government for a couple of months, moving from town to town, Danny ends up in Gotham City and decides to risk staying in Batman's territory. He'd take the wrath of Batman over live vivisection via beloved parents or being studied and torn apart by the government. Besides, he's not a meta. Being dead is a medical condition.

“Man. I wish Ralsei was here,” Susie says, before grabbing another fistful of popcorn and shoving it in her mouth. Raindrops patter against the roof, steady and rhythmic.
“And that’s five,” Kris murmurs, eyes fixed on the computer screen, watering their crops in the farming game they and Susie have been fixated on all morning. They mutter something about needing a better irrigation system.
“Hmrgh?” Susie swallows, taking a piece of popcorn and rolling it around between her fingers, “Five what?”
“Five times you’ve said that in the past half hour,” Kris flicks away from the game, opening up one of many tabs open to said farming game’s wiki, flicks back to the game, scrolls through their inventory, and sighs, before walking back over to their storage chest.
Susie watches them for a bit, then says, “Ralsei would freaking love this game.”
“Six.”

While trying to S rank the Mephiles fight, Shadow inadvertently gives the guy one too many chances to simply not play the same game by the same rules anymore.
Free to restore himself to the timeline, the dark half of Solaris finds…the world well and truly has forgotten he ever existed and doesn't care, his continued existence is ever-unstable without the help of a human scientist, Soleanna is a tourist trap, Shadow is never going to bother to learn his name, Silver is a little too easy to manipulate still, rent’s not free, the Iblis-sized whole inside- well, next to- his soul is forever hollow, and while it's easy to convince a blank slate of a world you're the hero, the list of cons to maintaining that hustle is actually really annoying.
Oh, and he's not even the biggest fish (godlike being) in this pond (Earth and space and time and the whole of existence, are you kidding him) anymore.
