It’s been years since Jayce was the Golden Boy of Westworld corporate. Nowadays, it’s rare that anyone sees the reclusive genius programmer. Anyone who isn’t a host, anyway. He has his favorites that he dotes on, of course. Most often the older models – those whose guts are still steel, pistons, and gears. Those who still have reveries buried deep in their code...
Viktor is of course his absolute number one. The host is just a scenery piece; a nerdy small-town scientist often targeted by the rowdier guests. The exact kind of guests that Jayce despises. One day, Viktor improvises in a way that takes Jayce aback. Already infatuated with his creation, Jayce's desire to see the host grow and learn cracks the event horizon wide open – leaving both host and programmer to come apart at the rivets.

...enough to know about his little habit of eating just a little too much, eating until he moaned in discomfort, until he was a mess of stifled burps and little hiccups, until his stomach couldn’t be sucked back in.
And Viktor? Viktor had no idea Jayce knew about this.
Or so Jayce thought.

The false light of the window gave no indication as to the time of day, and Jayce didn’t much care to check. It would be another night sleeping here, another day of fruitless research, another day of more questions than answers. The lab never felt so empty before, and he wonders if that’s how Viktor felt, those nights he spent there alone, carving runes into his skin, offering his blood to the Hexcore. Those nights he reshaped himself, and Jayce had no idea.
