Summary
Male omega Frenchie and his best friend Lucius, also a male omega, are shocking their community by living together and raising Lucius' pups together (though they're only friends). When Frenchie is given the opportunity to get them out of such a scandalous situation by Sir Ricky Banes, he takes it, even though Ricky gives him the ick. One night when they're supposed to go out together, Ricky bails but tells Frenchie to still go. While at the opera, Frenchie meets Izzy, a much more satisfying prospect for ending his scandal.

After that he felt equal to checking the group chat. It read like sports commentary (he assumed). Things started out fine, with a few nice and correct comments about how hot he and Ed looked. Then there were some grainy but damning photos of the two of them groping and a tidal wave of WTFs and LMAOs followed, along with some impressed and baffled comments about how long they had been kissing for. Great. Wonderful.

"You sounded a bit like a professor I had back in college," he says, and Izzy swears he sees a vague hint of blush on Lucius' exposed face. Then again, it is early December, and they are outside. "She had this old tin thermos full of soup with her at literally all times, like a—"
"Security blanket," Izzy finishes for him. How often had Ed accused him of just that. He tries not to think about the last time he saw it, saw Ed, saw the anger… "Like a bit of home wherever you go," he says instead.
"Don't tell me you know Dr. Teach!" Izzy does his best not to wince. "I think her first name was Val?" Lucius asks in earnest, finally pulling off his mask.
"Fucking hell," Izzy says. "It's you."

Izzy Hands is still healing from the wounds of his old life, dealing with poor self-esteem and vicious bouts of anxiety. At the suggestion of his therapist, he volunteers to be a life drawing model for a local artist's class. Dr. Boodhari failed to mention what to do if Izzy developed feelings for the artist, however, let alone how to handle a love eagerly reciprocated by a former student.

Izzy's warm hand on Lucius' cheek is unexpected, but it pulls him back out of his own head. "You're really not having a laugh, are you?" he asks quietly enough not even Buttons would dare to listen in.
"There are dangerous men in this port." Lucius feels like he's pulling words through the top of a poorly-bored hole in a frozen lake with nothing but his teeth. "That's all."
"What, worse than me?"
Lucius knows he should laugh. "Yes." Izzy's thumb slides over Lucius' cheekbone, and for a terrifying moment, Lucius thinks he's going to choose now to finally kiss him, as if Lucius hasn't been screaming at him to do it in everything but semaphore for weeks. "Very much so," he tacks on, just in case the first yes was drowned out by the blood pounding in his ears. "No offense meant."

To protect Jim, Izzy puts himself into a Situation only Lucius knows how to rescue him from. Unfortunately, that means finally facing and coming to terms with all the ghosts from his past in Port Royal.
