Toward the end of the war, Starscream is no stranger to pain and abandonment; the fear of being abandoned is something that constantly follows him. When he makes the mistake of breaking old Predacon relics, it is evident he expects Predaking to punish him and cast him aside. Realizing this, Predaking does what he can to make sure Starscreams knows that he is always welcome and that predacon's home is his as well.

It didn’t matter if he hated the beast. Megatron still had an unbreakable connection to him, he still carried his clutch and in his lowest moments, he was always reminded that he was Predaking’s mate, and that Predaking was his sparkling’s sire.

At the conclusion of the war Megatron’s mind was wiped and as punishment, he was given to Predaking. Predaking expected a docile, kept Megatron that was meant for him and him alone. None of them expected the fall out that would come when Megatron’s memories returned, and the issues that followed when it was time for their clutch to be born.

Megatron is carrying, and no longer fit to continue his mission upon the Lost Light. With execution no longer an option, he is brought back before Starscream to decide his fate.

Breakdown randomly wakes up revived on Earth after the conclusion of the war, yet his happiness for being granted another life is short lived. He cannot forget what M.E.C.H did to him, and suddenly realizes that something is wrong. On the other hand, Starscream has taken refuge on Earth and in his journeys, comes upon a confused Breakdown. Realizing they both have only each other, they decided to aid each other once more.

Unknown to Breakdown, his carrier protocols were activated during experimentation. Upon being brought back he realizes he is sparked. Alone and unsure of what to do, he bumps into Starscream and the two decide to embark on this new, and strange journey together.

Summary
Powering down during interface is one thing. Waking up with a spike still lodged inside of him, well, that is another thing. Especially when the owner of said spike is far too exhausted to pull out. Usually for Starscream, this isn't that much of a problem, but when he has work to do in less than an hour, that complicates things and he must get loose.
Luckily for him, he's always up for a challenge. Especially when Megatron's involved.

Starscream has way too much fun attempting to dislodge himself from an extremely tired Megatron's spike (and ends up losing in the process).
