Summary
Soulmates seemed like a good idea at first, to the angels. If people share the same scars as their soulmate, there's no mistaking they are supposed to be with each other. But when one of their own suddenly has the same scars that mark a demon, it's like their greatest fears have been realized. Aziraphale is sent to Earth as an outcast, hoping one day he'll meet his soulmate, even if Heaven wouldn't like it. But when the same being keeps rescuing him and hanging out for 6000 years... it's hard not to fall in love.

Summary
The Hiccup happens in late September of 1989 when the air is beginning to turn cold and the nights are getting longer.
It’s called the Hiccup because much like a hiccup, it happened suddenly and uninvited, causing distress abound, and lingered stubbornly for far longer than either party would have liked. Calling it the Hiccup is also a tentative of, as it would be said in the coming years, softening the blow enough for the events to be forgotten into oblivion.
But in that Wednesday evening– and for many years to come– this would stay fresh on Aziraphale’s mind.

A few weeks after the notpocalypse Aziraphale frets, Crowley broods and in a rare display of competence they actually manage to do something about it.
"He frowned at the money tree trembling in his face. “Honestly, what does he do to you?” he asked, going on to murmur a litany of soothing words. In response the plant promptly shuddered and produced a shiny red apple, almost bending in two beneath its weight. “Yes, well...” Aziraphale looked aside in embarrassment. It wasn't the sort of thing he'd ever been crass enough to bring up, but inanimate objects tended to take on a life of their own around Crowley. The Bentley had its own tastes and Opinions for a start, and there had been that viol a few centuries back which Crowley had been so fond of and which Aziraphale would swear had bit him one night after he'd misguidedly plucked a string."

His goodness was the crust of the earth, the protective layer that made life possible on the surface. What lay beneath was both life-giving and deeply destructive. Hellfire was not the most cataclysmic force around.

Crowley had time to take in three things when he opened the door to Aziraphale’s bookshop. First, that Hastur had not gotten any less revolting since the last time Crowley had seen him. Second, that their body swapping stunt hadn’t bought anywhere near as much time as he’d expected. Third, that the splash of water flying towards his face was very unlikely to have come from the local duck pond.
Crowley is in danger, and Aziraphale showcases his 'righteous fury' side
