"So?" He bristles. Sometimes Aki finds ways to slip under his skin that are entirely too similar to how Angel likes to slip under his. "You were the one saying we had to leave, getting all worried," he accuses, almost out of resentment.
"Maybe I wouldn't have been so worried if I knew what was going on with you."
Angel pauses mid-lick, disarmed. That is not the same as Aki biting the hook, falling for his bait. It's an admission. One he didn't expect Aki to hand over so easily after so many pretenses.
He looks up at Aki again, his blue eyes, dark and as stormy as the sky above them. This time, Aki's frown doesn't seem like an expression of disdain or disapproval. There's something tender in his face. Real concern, perhaps. Perhaps something else. Something that makes Angel's nostrils flare and his stomach sweep. He never allows himself to believe what he wants to see.
After being branded by a peculiar marking on his womb, Angel tries to ignore newfound desires. Aki finds himself disguising mercy as touch, knowing intimacy with a devil could never be too different from slaughter.

Loud, abrupt, and honestly terrifying noises from the apartment next door were a regular occurrence in Evan’s life. The man who lived there was a drummer and a watcher of horror movies; he liked to stomp around and leave his house yelling at random hours of the day. The woman who lived there would have loud parties and uncontrollable bouts of laughter at 3 in the morning and really, really hated being woken up before noon. One of the two of them was almost constantly making noise. The entire building was pretty much used to it, with their relatively thick walls providing a safe buffer, and it never really involved anyone but the two inhabitants of apartment 730.
Evan’s apartment was almost always silent. Evan didn’t have people over. Evan didn’t watch loud, terrifying movies. Evan was silent until a silly promise dragged him next door at midnight to face a stranger, and suddenly he could speak.

They were nearly home now, cutting up concrete steps partially illuminated by cool street lamps, back to the more residential city streets. Qiao Ling and Lu Guang were discussing something, maybe work related, but the words jumbled together, washing over Cheng Xiaoshi as he became lost in his own thoughts, revelling in the light breeze kissing his skin, in Lu Guang remaining close by his side. Then it hit him. Though Lu Guang said he didn't mind Cheng Xiaoshi touching him…when had Lu Guang ever initiated a hug? His brain ached as he attempted to conjure up a memory of this happening, but he couldn’t recall a single one.
That night, as Lu Guang deposited him into his bed and left him a glass of water on the side to stave off the hangover, a sleepy and inebriated Cheng Xiaoshi formulated a plan.
Or, Lu Guang is secretly a catboy, and Cheng Xiaoshi is on a very serious mission — a quest for reciprocated physical affection. And yes, these two things are related.

Till squeezed his eyes shut and took a stuttering breath. Silence. Eerie silence.
Why was it so quiet? Why had no sentinels come to put Till's collar back on and drag him away? Why was Ivan's lifeless body still here and not tossed in a pile somewhere with all the others who had been executed for the aliens' entertainment?
That had to mean this wasn't real, right?
But, Till could still feel the phantom of fingers around his throat, the ghost of desperate lips against his own, and when he opened his eyes again, he still saw pure white stained with crimson red, the sacred corrupted.
Ivan and Till are rescued after their round. Till must navigate the confusing feelings he's faced with in the aftermath.
