Summary
It has been 12 years since the children who called themselves the Lyoko Warriors shut down the Supercompter for the final time. Since that day, they have grown up, gone on with their lives, and almost without exception, grown apart. They scattered themselves across the world, intentionally or not, and built lives far away from the memories of the war they fought.
But their lives are all brought to a halt when strange dreams return to Aelita's psyche and old teachers all vanish, and the consequences they had been running from for years finally come to pass – the forces that brought Project Carthage into existence have returned to salvage a new weapon from the ashes of the one they had tried to build before. To do so, they need a man who was once a vessel for that which they seek to rebuild. And so, the Warriors must find him, too – to prevent the evil they sealed away from rearing its ugly head once again.

“Aelita…” Yumi’s voice was soft as she reached out to the girl in front of her. She placed her hands on the younger girl’s shoulders gently.
Aelita was confused at the sudden change in the older girl's tone and expression. Just a minute ago Yumi had been talking and smiling until Aelita had brought up how it was strange Jeremy wasn’t down from his room yet. His sleeping habits had greatly improved since XANA’s defeat and he often slept in now but regardless, he was still an early riser and was often early for breakfast. Today was not one of those days and Aelita had been waiting for half an hour but her blonde haired companion still hadn’t arrived yet.
Ulrich and Odd stood behind Yumi, their eyes betraying pain and something akin to regret.
“What’s going on?” Aelita said. A sudden strange discomfort settled in the pit of her stomach at the expressions she saw. “Where’s Jeremy?”
“Aelita… Jeremy’s gone.”

Eve was watching Lucifer and ‘The Detective’ as they spoke softly to each other at the latter’s desk. Lucifer had asked her to meet him here because she’d asked him if they could have a night out on the town. She watched as Lucifer placed his hands on Chloe’s cheeks and gave her a sad smile. He bent to place a kiss on her forehead and as Eve came closer she heard him speak.
“Are you going to be alright, darling?” his voice was soft, much softer than anything she’d ever heard him use. He had dropped one of his hands and was stroking the blonde’s cheek with the thumb of the other. “Do you need…” He trailed off, looking down.
“I’ll be fine, Lucifer,” Chloe said, “I just need to hug Trixie…”

She received the text from her employer that she had been requested for the evening. One thing that never seemed fair was that the men (or women) got to see a picture of her before purchasing, but she never got to see who she would have to entertain. It wasn’t like it mattered much; they were all the same. Well, typically. There had been a few times where a man had surprised her, being humble and shy, unsure of what to do or how to treat her. It had been endearing, seeing the innocence of new money before the world of riches and unending pleasures hooked them in and took away any part worth saving.
Those were the men she let live.

Chloe Decker, MD is not exactly the kind of person to get riled up easily. She is, after all, an intensive care doctor in Los Angeles which means, she’s seen a lot. She is also not entirely unfamiliar with moronic doctors who think they are God’s gift to humanity and misogyny is - not surprisingly - especially widespread among surgeons (it is still very much a men’s club after all) but despite all of this, she is pretty certain that Doctor Lucifer Morningstar is the worst of them all.
