“Every single Blade outpost and major galra hub is on complete lockdown right now. There’s no one else - it has to be me.” Keith then averts his eyes, looking a little less certain. “But… It would be a good idea for someone who doesn’t have galra blood to come with me. Someone we can trust to see it through. Just in case -” He pauses, his frown becoming more resigned. “... Just in case.”
Shiro doesn’t hesitate, even just for a second. “I’ll do it. I’ll go.”

--Keith's a broke-ass college dropout getting by as a mechanic. When Lance drags him to a dating seminar, he unknowingly meets the man of his dreams.
Or: Keith's views on relationships are skewed, Shiro's dated many but never anyone quite like Keith, and they weren't supposed to fall this fast or this deep, but oops.

“Well, I mean… Do you need a husband to adopt a kid?” Keith asks from the video call and Shiro raises his eyebrows. “You could do it on your own. You make a lot of money, you live on the Atlas, so you don’t actually move around much for work. Maybe you could just go for it on your own.”
“What if I can’t handle it?” Shiro sighs. “I mean, God, before this, it was just easy. I got married and then kids were the next step, but by myself…” Not to mention, he just got divorced because he's helplessly in love with his best friend. His best friend who's a galaxy away working his dream job while Shiro works his. His best friend who he blew his chance with.
Well, maybe his love life's dead, but his dream of being a dad doesn't have to be. Maybe he can do this on his own - even if he doesn't have a husband. Even if Keith's not here.

Summary
Getting with Shiro is worth anything. Anything. So Keith is going to fake being the cliche with daddy issues - complete with stuffed animals, booty shorts, and an utter loss of dignity - until he makes it. Hopefully along the way he'll figure out why it feels like being Shiro's baby boy might just be the best thing that’s ever happened to him.
Keith has a moment where he wonders, somewhat blankly, how he bought this perfectly serviceable shirt and then promptly forgot its existence. Then he looks down. And remembers in a series of post traumatic flashbacks exactly why he’d blocked the shirt from his consciousness.
Namely, three words, in a font that isn’t comic sans but comes insultingly close to it, garnished with red glitter: Daddy’s Little Boy.
“Keith?” Very slowly, he turns to look at the closed door to his bedroom. “Keith, are you okay? I heard…” Probably some kind of vaguely strangled noise. But Shiro’s too nice to articulate that kind of thing. “Keith? If you don’t answer, I’m coming in.”

Summary
Years after the Terran-Galran War, Keith - now a Senior Blade - reunites with an old ally during a joint operation between the Blade of Marmora and the ATLAS Initiative. It has been a decade since Keith last saw Takashi Shirogane - the man he had loved and lost - who now leads as Admiral of the Fleet. Keith was content to finish the mission as soon as possible and returning to his self-imposed exile but things are never easy.
What had been a simple supply drop mission for refugees on a battle-ravaged fringe planet leads to a plot intent on destabilizing both parties, and reigniting the engines of war.

Keith should have fallen on his sword. Honour dictated he takes his own life rather than suffer the humiliation of defeat. It was too later, however. He didn’t have a sword or anything to fall on anymore. He wanted to believe he would do it, if only he could get his hand on a blade. His whole being yearned with the need to believe. But he knew himself, knew his will to live. Dying meant escape. Dying also meant no chance of fighting another day. Dying was too… definitive to his liking.

Summary
Shiro was not an overthinker. It had been trained into him through many years in the military that muscle memory and quick thinking saved lives. As a pilot, all actions had to become second nature. Feelings had no place in a cockpit or a battlefield. All emotional triggers had to be suppressed, compartmentalized and pushed down so deeply that they couldn’t impact you.
This training had saved his life as a prisoner of the Galra Empire. It helped him train the other paladins and make quick decisions during battle as the leader of Voltron. It had probably kept him sane in the endless expanse of the Black Lion’s consciousness. His ingrained conditioning had supported him while Captain of the Atlas and snapped him out of sheer panic as he watched his dearest friends - his family - fall to the Earth and their potential deaths.
It had made him a good soldier and an excellent pilot, but military preparation and emotionless indoctrination was absolute crap for his mental health and personal relationships.
He was a disaster as a husband.
And he had been absolutely blind to his own feelings for his best friend.
