Summary
In a ruined building next to a solitary tree, there’s a boy standing awkwardly in front of a piano. The building is larger than anything Kaworu has ever seen and yet he knows it intimately. It used to be an underground nerve centre: exposed and out in the open, drying out like an empty husk. The sea is bright red and the sun always seems like it’s setting, never overhead and never rising but always sinking slowly below the horizon, painting the crumbling walls in pinks and oranges and reds.
They always play the piano together and the boy’s face opens beautifully — his smile wide and his eyes sparkling. Kaworu thinks that the boy is the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen in his life.
In another timeline, Kaworu Nagisa farms watermelons with Ryoji Kaji and Misato Katsuragi.
Every night, he dreams of someone named Shinji Ikari.

Summary
A time travelling, action-adventure, romance-filled science fiction romp ensues when Ianto runs into Jack in the fifty-first century after an accident with a vortex manipulator. Laser blasters, alien dance clubs, mercenaries, a little too much public sex for Ianto's tastes, sneaky plans and circular logic can be found here. Set after Something Borrowed, but not particularly "AU" (at least, at time of writing) it slots into season 2.

"The fall of Uzushio collapsed our economy, our protections. You might think I'm being rosy, but they really cared about us. And they knew how to party. You know they had a seal that could swap body parts? Wildest night of my life,” the boatman’s eyes go distant for a long moment, “...but you kids are too young to hear about that.
“Anyway,” he continues, “our economy’s been a shambles since; maybe gets going for a year or two before it collapses again. No security of stability, so assholes like Gato think they can waltz in here and take charge. Boy, he'd be singing a different tune if the Uzumaki were still around."
Sakura’s eyes widen a bit at that, and even Sasuke looks up. Naruto opens his mouth to say something, but Kakashi puts a firm hand on his shoulder.
“What an… illuminating piece of history,” says Kakashi, “Thank you for sharing.”

----------“You cried yesterday Osomatsu,” Chibita started, an awkward grimace on his face as though he didn’t know how to have such serious conversations with the eldest Matsuno, “I’m sure Totoko would be a better person to talk to about this touchy-feely sorta shit, but are you alright?”
“Of course I am,” Osomatsu replied, forcing a smile across his face as the first few rays of light begin to show over the riverbank’s horizon.
“Osomatsu,” Iyami began with a somber tone, looking at the man with pity and understanding in his eyes, “you and Chibita were there for me when me was most alone. Me almost killed myself when the two of you did your best to stop me. What you said was… personal and raw, and Osomatsu, please don’t push us away.”
