Summary
It’s hard to believe that the boy before him is 18.
He doesn’t look it.
Not in the slightest.
He’s naïve in the same way the boys who come straight out into the field always are, a little too keen, far too starry eyed, too kind for the men around him.
And as he sits here, bleeding, dying, it’s even harder to believe that he’s an adult.
He’s so young, so soft, so scared, face screwed up with pain as he clutches at Jack.
They’re fucked.
They’re so fucked.

Summary
“Come here, kid.” One of Robby’s hands catches Dennis’s and lands against his sternum, trapping his arm against his chest, while the other stays in his hair, fingers winding into blond curls. Dennis’s attention is everywhere and panicked. He catches a flash of Perlah readying the needle and a desperate sound punches out of him.
“Nope, don’t look at that,” Robby says, using the hand in his hair to force his head back, angling his vision away from the commotion and up towards him. Dennis’s eyes lock onto his, pupils blown wide. “Look at me. Yep, good. I’m right here. You’re doing so good, honey. Just keep those eyes on me.”
The IV tourniquet snaps into place and panic flashes anew in Dennis’s face. ”Robby—”
“I know. It’s just Dana and Perlah. We’re just pushing some fluids, no more drugs. You’re safe.” Out of the corner of his eye, Robby can see Perlah speeding through what has to be the fastest IV placement of her career, Dana keeping her grip on Dennis’s hand to stop him from jerking away. Dana shoots him a glance of warning and Robby tightens his hold. “Okay, quick poke now. Still just us. Deep breath, Dennis. You're okay."

Summary
“Excuse me?” Eddie asked, all pretenses of their original conversation gone.
“I get it, man. We – We all get it. I’m an asshole. Can you stop being such a fucking freak about it?”
As soon as the words left Steve’s mouth, he froze. He imagined everyone did, based off the tense silence that immediately followed.
Dustin breaks it first. “What the hell, Steve?"
Steve dropped his hand to his side and kept his eyes closed, sighing. “That was – yeah, okay, that was really, really mean. I’m s –”
An explosion of pain burst under his left eye as Eddie punched him, the momentum sending him stumbling backwards before he caught himself. He shook his head a bit, trying to hear what everyone was saying again over the ringing now sounding through his head. “Okay,” Steve gritted out, “Alright, yeah, I deserved –”
Before he could finish his sentence, Eddie grabbed him by the shirt collar, getting in his face. Steve did his best to remain calm, though he’s really not a fan of this whole thing anymore, and he’d much rather he never get into another fistfight again.
OR: Steve and Eddie get into a fight, and no one takes Steve's side. This action will have consequences.

Summary
Dennis Whitaker has lived a life full of religious speculation, pain, and chronic depression/anxiety. Growing up the youngest of four in Broken Bow, Nebraska led him into early childhood trauma. In a town that could be dated back to the late 1800's, and hardly had even changed since then, there wasn’t much room for Dennis to become anything other than what his parents wanted him to be, a rancher, just like the rest of his brothers, and his father. When the opportunity to study Theology in college arises, Dennis agrees. A year into his studies, Dennis changes his major to medicine without anyone knowing. When his family receives a letter in the mail stating that Dennis changed his major, he is given two choices. Drop out and accept his godforsaken fate in Nebraska, or leave indefinitely. Choosing the latter, Dennis finds himself homeless while studying medicine. He doesn't let this deter him, and later makes it to his residency at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. Now entering his fourth year as a med student, he’s entering his emergency medicine rotation, where he meets his new superiors, Michael Robinavitch, and Jack Abbot.
