It’s clear to most—Sakura is a bit stingy with cash. He avoids the vending machines unless he’s desperate—usually on his third day without food, when the gnawing in his stomach is enough to make him woozy and irritable. Kotoha knows the only way to get him to order anything at Pothos is to assure him that it’d be on the house—he’d still drop a few 50-yen coins in the tip jar when she’d have her back turned, though, just to momentarily quell the guilt playing in his ears like a godawful song on repeat.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t stingy enough.

Sakura gets kicked out of his apartment, but it's fine. There are plenty of empty classrooms at Furin, and working part-time at a coffee shop can't be that hard. He'll make enough to rent a new place soon enough. Probably. Hopefully.

They expected Crowley to laugh, or to just remain silent like he so often did when they reminisced about Heaven. Instead, his hands stilled on their wings. Muriel shifted on the stool and tried to crane their head around to look at him, and the glimpse of his face they got was so incredibly sad that it made them ache with empathy.
"Mr. Crowley?"
"Dove… you… you know that's not right, don't you?" Crowley asked.

He remembered the squeak of his Bentley's tires, blurred vision due to the tears, and the pain. Overwhelming, infinite, all-consuming, reminding him of the time when his wings turned fire and everything burned, and Crowley fell.
There was ringing in his ears, and there were distant voices as well, coming closer, then,
'Mr. Crowley?', spoken in a worried, young voice.
He couldn't answer, everything felt so heavy. He blacked out.

Crowley doesn’t leave the sofa for three days. His mood gets suctioned into the weather and influences it to become a non-stop torrential downpour, lights flickering throughout all the shops on the street. Even the lilies Muriel had so lovingly decorated the bookshop with are wilting into messy heaps of rotting plant matter by the windowsills.
“Anthony J. Crowley!” Muriel yells, on the morning of the fourth day.
Startled out of his stupor, Crowley finally looks up from his pile of blankets.
Muriel cracks a smile. “We’re having a holiday.”

Aziraphale is gone for good. And it's fine - well, it's terrible, but Crowley is determined to carry on with his own life. He can do this alone. He's busy enough as it is between teaching Muriel how to stop people from buying books, and curating an instagram account that captures the beauty of his beloved plants. What he is not doing is thinking about Aziraphale, or moping over Aziraphale, or obsessively checking his instagram to see if Aziraphale has left another (accidentally) suggestive comment. He's not doing that at all.
