It’s that that finally gets Frank looking at his face again. It’s earnest as ever but there’s a cunning sparkle in his good eye as he wraps his mouth around the beer bottle and tips it up sharp to slug some down. It’s probably a calculated distraction; Frank wouldn't put it past him and fuck it, if it’s a trap, he’ll take this bait and greedily watch Cable’s long, thick neck bob in the swallows, watch the few stray drops drip down his chin at the same time. It’s absolutely planned and completely obscene and it works, it stops Frank in his tracks for a few moments so his brain doesn’t spin out yet.
Trouble is, once he’s done drinking and the dust settles, the offer catches up to him. And, oh, it’s not something he’d ever thought of in detail but watching the amber drip down Cable’s chin, settle on his blue t-shirt and sink in, well, it’s clear all that’s been calculated too.
