“...ome sort of interrogation mode? I didn’t think Eggman would program this in…”
Metal Sonic's optic sensors are still recalibrating, but he analyzes what he can. He’s in a seated position. The sound of typing and clicking comes from behind, slightly to his left, as well as impatient, rapid footsteps. Wires are connected to the normally hidden ports in his back. Two bodies of heat in the room. When he tries to move his legs, he finds them immobile and unresponsive. When he attempts to move his arms, he finds that they're bound to the chair. The rapid whirring, however, makes two voices startle.
“Woah, woah–”
“You can’t move, Metal. Take it easy.”
He recognizes the second of the voices immediately. His obnoxious copy.

"Kill you? No, not yet." Eggman gulped. "I need you and my counterpart for an important experiment."
Eggman mentally shuddered at the way Metal pronounced the word 'experiment'. "What kind of experiment?"
Metal shrugged. "Who knows what I might do? Let's just say that it is not going to be enjoyable."

(Formerly titled "Redemption AU")
Takes off from IDW Sonic #12; where Mr. Tinker doesn’t revert back to Dr. Eggman. As a new person, Tinker takes the subject of redemption into his own hands and attempts to adopt Metal along for the ride. Meanwhile Metal Sonic’s prime directive is to find Dr. Eggman hidden in Mr. Tinker’s psyche.
Not as story-driven as it sounds it’s just me forcing character development and father-son bonding between an amnesiac and his robot because I thought Mr. Tinker could’ve been a great character if he had been left alone long enough.

Tinker gets kidnapped, when returned to his village by sonic metal follows. Tinker feels bad for the robot and convinces sonic to let him stay, sonic agrees as long as he gets to visit and restricts some of the lethal components. Metal still wants Eggman back and is quietly getting angry at how different and weak Tinker is, meanwhile Tinker wants to do better for metal and does not like the idea that he was Eggman. Starline takes over the empire with plans hand it back, neo already tried and was defeated. Ch4

Sonic is robotizied in little plaet at 10yo, ends up bed ending and implied killing Eggman before going back in time. After neo thsj Eggman realizes it's sonic, replaces his nanobody with a more classic metal and basically benches him to silently chill at base. Metal finally snaps (again) and escapes to try and get himself killed by sonic after telling him what he really is. Sonic feiends and metal famoly feel bad and are trying to get him out of his suicidal depressive catatonia. Ch2

Summary
Hedgehog-series robots were always designed with superior intelligence, but something was definitely different about Metal Sonic, it always had been. That spark of emotion in him seemed to come from somewhere deep within, and it sure as hell wasn't normal for a robot that was supposed to be nothing more than a copy of Sonic.

Ch 22 completed. Metal has a psychotic break as Neo, his anger is self loathing and he begs to be ended. Mecha restarts him and Silver who accidentally escapes helps as well. They return to Eggman but GUN is after them and mecha gets tortured, when the robros try to help Eggman is calous and they realize their fathers care only extends as far as ego and convenience. Neo gets himself killed saving sonic, for a while without memory is just assassinbot metal, does get memories back. Neo has did identity issues, mecha ptsd from being tortured, and silver acute rejection dysphoria with humor coping.

Metal Sonic slowly dropped its hand. The organic took that as a sign, and moved closer, carefully pulling the unit into its arms. “My name’s Chris,” the fleshling spoke again. “What’s yours?”
Metal Sonic stared blankly up at the fleshling. The unit was not capable of speech. Perhaps if it still had its other hand, it could at least communicate via sign language. But it did not have its other hand, therefore such communication was at the moment impossible.
“You can’t talk?” the fleshling “Chris” asked. An answer to that Metal Sonic would at least be able to deliver. It shook its head no. Chris hummed, and then seemed to struggle a bit. “You’re really heavy.”
Metal Sonic released a beep of annoyance.

The cast then end up Sonic X + robian uncle Chuck when using all the emeralss for world robotication goes wrong. metal eventually realizing he was once sonic but also that Sonic is dead, he is ready to kill Eggman and not much ideals to being a hero. Rogue joined with GUN, the cast know Metallic was once sonic. Ch17

Summary
After years of battling Eggman, he appears to have gone quiet, and Tails discovers it’s because he’s gone looking for the secret research of a recently deceased genius who was considered insane. When it seems like Sonic’s group will miss an important event, Amy and Rouge set out to find them, and Metal follows after them. All three groups (Amy’s, Sonic’s and Eggman’s) eventually meet up at the location of a secret underground lab, and the legends about it prove true. In the confusion as Sonic and Eggman battle to take control of it, some unexpected things happen to Sonic and Metal, one of which has lasting effects on Metal. Metamy.

This metal Intantly goes Neo and Eggman flees with sage and his 2 assistants, meanwhile metal has a second identity Flare and is making friends and loving Chao including his boy hush. Amy ans metal realizing they falling in love, meanwhile Neo is collecting emeralds and planning a full robotic uprising. He is hellbent on proving he is the true sonic by being the one that succeeds, desires to kill sonic and turn everyone into robots so they can understand ans also not go through the same. (It's not really fleshed out) tails figures out when snooping through metal but metal threatens his life, amy figures out when approaching him during a quiet moment, and omega figures put bc scans show metal to have a horribly organic template. Metal is sonic at 11yo, now getting farther from sonic as the hedgehog grows, still such a similar person. 5 works
