Summary
In the not-so-distant future, the Earth is a desolate place. Stripped of resources and in nigh-perpetual dust-bowls, non-human life is rare outside the carefully climate-controlled shelters where the majority of humanity hunkers in place, dehydrated and delusional, waiting for a miracle to save the world.
Chay is one of the last batch of astronauts trained and sent to orbit by the Thai Space Program. Tasked with a mission of six months, it's the perfect opportunity to escape all the bridges he just burned with his family– and his boyfriend. With half a year to cool his head as far away from it all as he can get, Chay completes his duties with a distracted mind. However, as six months turns into seven, and then nine, with no word from Mission Control, Chay must convince his crew to return to Earth unassisted, and uncover the truth behind their abandonment– and why the dusty-orange Earth they know is suddenly green.

Traffic streaks past his windows like colorful headstones, tempting Kim to engrave himself on them as he tests the limits of his reflexes dodging through Bangkok traffic. Thirteen hours left. Kim regrets ever learning that statistic as he brings his foot down harder on the gas pedal of his BMW. Twenty-four hours after you’re abducted, your chances of being found drop to nearly zero percent. The chances are probably a little higher when you have the resources of a mafia empire and don’t have to deal with negligent law enforcement. Still, Kim’s knuckles are white on the wheel.

Chay had noticed it the second time he visited Kim’s home– His tutor has absolutely zero pictures of anyone. Not that Chay has been everywhere in the apartment, he still hasn’t been in Kim’s bedroom. That door is firmly shut every time he’s over, and he can’t say he minds without being hypocritical. He does the same thing with his own room when Kim visits. Still. No pictures. Not a single family member, friend, or pet.
So, Chay wants Kim to have something to remember him by.
