Summary
Picks up in the car after the Suwa family showdown in Ep.12.
They have been partners for years, and they still are. They're just a different kind now, I guess? After making the drastic (and arguably psychotic) plan to leave the hitman business, Kazuki and Rei are forced to make a huge life transition. They have to become normal people. As they work together to adapt to this new and confusing life they find themselves developing new and confusing feelings as well. A continuation of what the anime set up, they are just two "best friends" trying to find a way through their mental illness, past trauma, and their everyday lives together. Unless, maybe there's more to it than that?
I wanted to dive into their near future but also elaborate on their past. So every chapter I am trying to include a current event and a related memory.
CW: mentions of suicidal ideation, mental illness, panic attacks, descriptions of trauma

Ordinarily, Mika would never make this kind of mistake.
It was a fucking dodge. He could handle a simple dodge. He’d come across a Horseman out on a midnight grocery run and figured, shit, might as well get rid of it before it seriously hurt someone.
But he was hungry. Yuu’d gotten injured on patrol a week or so prior, and he just… couldn’t bring himself to ask to feed while he was injured.
And being hungry made him weak, and being weak made him slow, and now he was bleeding out in the canned food aisle of a convenience store that was missing half the roof and every single window.

Crowley sprinted faster towards Aziraphale’s fading voice, praying for him to find him. Not praying to Her. God had already forsaken him, abandoned him, had given him up to be destroyed. Now all that love and praise, all that faith, was being placed in the one person who would answer his prayers in his hour of need.
Wherever Aziraphale was, Crowley would come to him. Even when he never asked him to, Crowley had never and will never let him down. Not today.

Or: Crowley has a far too real nightmare of Aziraphale being tortured in Heaven begging for his help and sets off with Muriel to rescue his best friend.
