Interrogations had always been a chore and his favorite part of his job at the same time; no one was ever quick-witted enough to make the back-and-forth interesting or enduring enough to hold out against whatever torture Edgar’s poems dealt to them, but Edgar did find a twisted sort of satisfaction in digging his heel into their ribs or crushing their fingers under his shoe. Enough so, in fact, that he’d found boots with a sharper heel just to do so.
